Decent Call Centre Headsets to Wear All Day?

Work supplied me a C3200 Plantronics headset and while the call & mic quality are decent, my ears are in pain if I have the headset on for more than an hour. Any recommendations on a decent substitute or upgrade that won't break my ears if I wear them all day? My budget upper limit is under $150. Happy to consider refurbished/used products if they are really good as well.

Note that I stretch the extenders to the max due to my big head.

I was about to ask if you had a big head haha. You can try one similar to this. It's one-sided and doesn't squeeze your head > https://www.poly.com/au/en/products/headsets/mx/mx500i

I wear a Voyager 5200 all day and often forget it's even there. I would recommend it, but it's bluetooth and the battery life isn't going to be long enough for a full day of continuous usage).

I would be asking work to pay for it….

+1 to the 5200. Love mine!!!

While the battery won't do a full days talking, it is fine for me as I'm not on the phone 8 hours a day.

The OP could pop the 5200 on charge during breaks. Then it will easily get through the day or buy two!

They already 'paid' and provided a headset.

I've got three - one connected to my work laptop and phone all day for work, one connected to my own laptop and personal phone and one in the car! lol

Companies tend to have a standard one that suits most people, but they're usually happy to get something different if it's not suitable for certain individuals. From their point of view, it's a critical piece of equipment and will fall under the OH&S policies. Doesnt hurt to ask I guess - OP might save a couple of hundred bucks out of his own pocket.

Are you allowed to wear earbuds? I usually spend my whole day with earbuds in when I get tired of wearing my Sony over ear headphones.

Just be careful. 7+ hour days of earbuds can lead to chronic ear infections.

This happened to me. Now rotate between Plantronics 5220 (supplied by work) and Galaxy Buds.

Used to have a Jabra Evolve 65 supplied by previous employer which was good for the bluetooth functionality, but found the pads broke down quickly. Comfortable, comparable to the Plantronics I use now. Ear buds are more comfortable for me personally as they're not pushing my glasses into the side of my head.

I have a big head (xxl in most hat brands) and wear engage 75 for 10 hours a day if I’m in office . Mon to Fri.

Out of your price range though. Could management chip in at all? Wireless is game changing.

  • Not in a call centre, but there have been numerous days where this headset was used for more than 10 hours straight on a rather large head.

Jabra Evolve 20 SE can be had for $70.
