Yesterday, the Vodafone SIM in my dual-SIM OnePlus 5 suddenly stopped working, while the other Optus SIM had no issues. I visited a Vodafone shop seeking assistance. After some checks, I was informed that Vodafone had discontinued its 3G network in December, and a recent software upgrade no longer supports the telecom module in my OnePlus 5. I went out and bought a Motorola phone, and it works well with both my Vodafone and Optus SIMs. Has anyone encountered similar issue with their old phones?

Thanks for the very detailed info.
I am wondering if iPhones are affected as well?
Any phone that does not support Voice over LTE will be affected. I don't know the situation with iPhone but given that Apple has much tighter control over their hardware and software (compared to Google) I'd say iPhone 6 onwards should support Volte already, based on what I read on Wp anyway.
This video by Hugh Jefferies explains the situation with the 3g network shut-downs https://youtu.be/Q6qb9dml6So?si=XdRBk2JyPil0sMOE
iPhone6 & later, Apple-AU approved only

but removing sim and reinserting fixed it.the phone later committed suicide and i bought a motorola
Use the link scrimshaw shared as I followed same when my 7T Pro stopped & now back to normal as of Monday this week.
I knew of the tower shutdowns, foolishly thought I was ok when I saw the 4GLTE icon yet def not the case.
Once you have followed the steps make some test calls to see what is best for you as my Wi-Fi calling was on by default of the changes applied & call quality was ordinary. YMMV ofc yet in case you do it all then wonder why it's showing as wi-fi and not VoLTE
