I just noticed my ebay plus $5 voucher has increased the minimum spend to$35,up from$15…
Has anyone else noticed this?
Makes the eBay plus membership less attractive…

  • It's fiver off $50 non eBay plus items and $15 eBay plus items, no? I bought something ~$16 the other night and got a fiver off.

I have a few eBay plus accounts for selling so even at one free listing per month it covers the yearly fees many times over so until they ditch that I'll be staying subscribed. If you're only buying though, probably questionable on the worth.

It was… Just got my new voucher… Trying to buy $20 item… Checked… Now $35… Disappointing

      Can confirm.

As of Feb 2024, eBay has 'updated' their monthly offer to:

      $5 off of $50 spend -> same -> $5 off of $50 spend

      $5 off of $15 spend -> worse -> $5 off of $35 spend

Clearly this is a cash-grab move to make up for discounting all those eBay Plus annual memberships for $9.95

    Noticed that as well. Disappointed

    Working fine for me

    • Thanks.
Pretty scummy… Could have phased it… Maybe $20 would have been reasonable…

      Oh well

      • Didn't Amazon increase their Prime membership fees,
and also the minimum spend for deliveries from $39 to $59 ?

I'm still holding out on Prime,
and those price jumps affect me too.

Typical eBay all deals descend down worse at every step

  • Wow, that's dodgy. Only reason I had Ebay Plus and I even hesitated at $10 for a year.

How are all of you missing the fact that this a gross misrepresentation of the benefits of the membership via which they got users to subscribe in the first place. They can obviously changes the benefits on offer but only after the membership end date upon renewal not before that. This is plainly illegal. eBay can easily be sued for this. I wish I could afford the legal costs for this solid case.

    • I'm no legal expert, but I do recall their Ebay Plus T&Cs very carefully only mentioned the discount amount of $5 per month, not the minimum spend. Scummy for sure, but it may not be as black and white legally.

Good luck on your fight when eBay has at their disposal a team of highly paid lawyers.
You will also find that their T&Cs are written in a way that it allows them to make such dodgy variations without any legal repercussions.

  • Same here. Definitely no chance of me renewing my membership (even though I only paid $10). $5 off $35 spend is not even 15% max. A decent cashback offer will easily offer better value.

  • Yes. It was very attractive to buy some office gear like mouse on eBay for $20 and get $5 and also get the tax deduction. Not as good with $35 spend.

  • Yeah just noticed this with my new voucher today. Wont bother renewing when its up. I can always find something $15 to get the $5 off but $35 is much less enticing and not really worth it anymore. Think they will see a lot of people dump the membership. As others have said, would have been nice if they left it until sub renewal. Bit sucky to change the minimum spend part way through the membership. Though i do only have 4 months left anyway.

  • Goodbye eBay plus.

  • They got us all to sign up for $10 then changed the goal posts. Should have seen it coming.
    Pricks.

  • Just noticed as well. I cancelled and it says here’s a $30 voucher after next renewal. I remember the time two years ago or more when ebay regularly gave 10% off (capped at $100) birthday vouchers. The more people cancel the more they realise why.

  • My 1st year of eBay Plus expired in November 2023,
and I let it lapse, without renewing.

A week later, I joined for $10 Annual plan,
and it's been 2-3 months since I joined,
and I've been getting the $5 vouchers for $15 minimum spend.

I've hardly used any of the $5 vouchers at all,
    over the last 15-months,
so, maybe eBay considers me as 'low value',
but I have sold 1-2 items in all that time, at $1500 for 0% FVF.

  • LOL I just noticed this as well and raised this to their CS as I've never received any communication from Ebay regarding this change, they first said they send email to all users regarding this change then later apologised for never sent the email.

They also claimed that "the PLUS5C voucher this voucher is given as a complementary from eBay where eBay holds rights to change the terms and conditions as and when required."

What a dick move by Ebay, I'll never renew again.
