Need a Wi-Fi 7 Router with Powerful Intrusion Software Inbuilt

Hi,

Latest thing in my area is to use wifi jamming software to disable wifi security cameras.

Need a wifi 7 router with a powerful defence system such as strong encryption, etc.

I know that I cannot prevent a wifi jamming attack but would like to make it as inconvenient as possible for any intrusion attempts.

I appreciate all suggestions and comments.

I currently use an archer ax73 (TP Link).

I subscribe to the TP link Homeshield software.

I wish you can just use a wired security system

Do you have sold proof for this or is it just kids being naughty with their Flipper Zeros or could this even be a result of binge watching all of MI?

  • wifi jamming attack

    Happened to you before?

    • Happened to people in one of the streets lately.

I will get wired security cameras.

      • Did you see and deal with the effects or just hear the story about it?

  • Mate I’ve had wifi since it was 54mbps speed so like 20 years.
I’ve never had any attacks, never had my wifi hacked.
I’ve lived in apartments, a townhouse and 2 houses in that time and never had anyone bothered to hack it.

Unless you live in dense apartments I wouldn’t worry.
You could just note down how many wifi devices you have connected and check from time to time if there are extras.

I wish you could put an SD card in the Tapo cameras so that it records locally to each camera, AND to the NVR.

    (sarcasm: You CAN!)
Next up: cutting off the power to your home: I wish you could have a UPS plugged in to your cameras and NVR

Do you live in a house on piers? with any ethernet ports? if so, what's to stop a smart attacker from crawling under the house, and connecting to your home ethernet by cutting a cable, adding a network switch, and their malicious device?

    • They are probably concern with people smashing their home windows, entering home and grabing valuables out in 90 seconds. Your sarcastic paranoia will take longer than that.

You have some script kiddies most likely using a ESP8266 deauthor tool:

    https://github.com/SpacehuhnTech/esp8266_deauther
    https://www.theverge.com/23412661/deauther-watch-wifi-hackin…
    https://www.amazon.com.au/YALIYA-Development-Deauther-ESP826…

Deauthing should not be confused with signal jamming. Wifi de-auth attacks work by the attacker pretending to be one of the devices talking to the router and then saying to the router "Hey, I'm leaving the conversation now. Bye!".

The router then basically boots the real device off the network. One reason the attacker might want to do this is prevent IP cameras from being able to set off alarms or upload footage once it's disconnected from cloud server or the NVR.

This is kind of a old vulnerability in the wifi protocol (read the github to understand more about it) and you can fix it by just switching to WPA3.0 (where PMF is mandatory. you don't need an expensive Wifi 7 router for this kind of feature.

    • Had a random thought. Could you trick hackers into hacking what they think is a Bluetooth keyboard, they hack it and in turn receive a Ducky USB-style payload?

Make your network hidden and change its name.

  • Just use WPA 3.0 on your AX73 router to prevent de-auth attacks.
