Hello,
Has anyone had any experience using mouth tape while sleeping to control their breathing through the nose?
What is a reliable or good brand for this type of product and where can one purchase them?

you will wake yourself up if you can't breathe, and never suffocate while you sleep that way.
Going by my blood oxygen levels being vaguely close to being in a coma when I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, I’m not totally sure I’d take that bet.
Yep that's the one! Have you seen any around that are good?
I use the mouth tape to keep my ball gag in
OP wants to know a good brand.
Isnt there headbands that connects to the jaw. It forces your jaw to close but doesnt totally cover your mouth. This is probably a safer a option.
Tried the jaw band, it didn't work. As per KiKH above, I woke up when I couldn't breathe.
Do you have sleep apnea?
I haven't been tested but I don't think so I do not snore and mostly get good sleep.
Do a bulk billed sleep test
I snored a lot, but thought I slept fine.
After getting a CPAP I realised what sleeping well actually felt like.
Definitely worth doing the bulk billed test.
Maybe go see a doctor and get a recommendation (or, at least speak to the chemist)
have you tried nose strips? I personally found in sleep I defaulted to mouth because I struggle to breath properly through nose. If you haven't already tried it might be worth a shot.
Havn't used it myself but many people are just cutting to size pieces of rock tape. https://rocktape.com.au/
I have been taping my mouth at night for years.
After many different options I now regularly use https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/73120/nexcare-silico… for the tape. It has enough stick to stay on all night and not sticky enough to stop me from forcibly opening my mouth if needed (I assume I just open it myself as very rarely I wake up with my mouth open and tape hanging off a lip). It also easily and slowly peels off with no residue in the morning and I can reuse one bit of tape for 3-4 nights in a row.
My big issue is my jaw goes limp and falls back when I fall asleep. Mouth taping helps but my sunken jaw still inhibits my airway and is not great in general.
I tried getting a double sided mouth guard (e.g. https://www.amazon.com.au/Glamza-Bruxism-Mouth-Guard-Grindin…) which molds to both sets of teeth in the correct jaw position and will hold my jaw forward. Unfortunately, since my jaw still drops when I fall asleep, when I tape and wear the mouth piece, the guard ends up coming free and I have a mouth guard floating around my mouth when I am sleeping. Not great.
I then added to the mix a jaw strap (e.g. https://www.amazon.com.au/Silencer-Anti-Dry-Snoreless-Sleepi…) which kind of worked even though it applies a bit of backwards pressure to my jaw.
You can imagine when I was all suited up with all of the above, my wife couldn't keep her hands off me ;)
Anyway, it wasn't sustainable to do the mouth guard and chin strap so I have reverted to just the tape. Easy to take with me when traveling and quick and easy to put on each night.
I'm too old for it to work now but I wished I knew about mewing and orthotropics at a younger age. I have terrible posture, have had 4 teeth removed to make room and had braces for 3+ years.
look for the mouth piece that has the interlocking ridges to keep your jaw in position so you dont have the issue.
Got a link? Not sure what you are trying to describe.
@Kiro: I think that would work the same as the double sided mouth guard I already talked about. Since my mouth opens when I fall asleep, my teeth would fall out of the mold and it would not work.

I’m using very breathable mouth tape with cpap, works great, i can breathe easily.
Is this like taping your mouth shut so you are forced to breath through your nose? I was thinking of doing this because I snore but I’m so scared I might literally not breath through my nose for whatever reason and suffocate myself
