Heading from Sydney to UK in April with the family. Looking to upgrade my wife's trip from economy to business. I've booked 2 separate flights, one for her and one for the 3 kids and myself, as I was told you can't upgrade 1 person within the 1 family ticket. My question relates to the upgrade with Skywards points. Is it best to upgrade before the flight or are there less points needed to upgrade at the airport…assuming you don't get as many business perks….or is it all the same price???
That's if there's business tickets left.
If Qantas is anything to go by the chance of an upgrade is slim to none, mind you Emirates may be different. Would generally need top tier status to be eligible.
You'd want to get your upgrade bid in asap, if they let you upgrade to secure a seat early then go down that route.
