Jetstar won't change credit note to Club Jetstar member's name. Booking was for guest

Can we use a Jetstar credit voucher not in our name? It's in a male's name, I'm female.

Background: I'm a Club Jetstar Member and directly booked a flight for a guest but they're unable to travel. I upgraded the flight so a credit note is offered if I need to cancel their flight. Unfortunately, worse case scanerio and I do need to cancel (person is violent) but Jetstar won't provide a credit note under my name.

They don't care that I've got screenshots confirming the guests details and that I made the booking under my Club Jetstar account.

Is this a ACCC issue? I will not be reporting violence to police as manipulation and coercive control is hard to prove. Can I get a letter from my GP?

      I think thats the question?

  • Is this a ACCC issue?

Unfortunately, I don’t see your circumstance is considered as exception under clause d

You may consider speaking to a person from Jetstar Customer Relation and go from there.

Good luck and sorry to hear about violence in your life

    Don't worry about jetstar.

Get out now before you become the next statistic.

  • Where you you apply the voucher? If it's just a box in the checkout for the numbers i.e. you have an emailed code etc then the name won't matter; if it was bought online on your account then the credit would be applied to the next purchase on that account, I'd think.

I would suggest trying to book a random flight and see if/when the credit is applied during checkout - I doubt the name should make any difference but don't have any experience to prove or disprove my theory.

    • This.

I have given away a bunch of the jetstar $25 hotel vouchers which are just a code. E.g. R9QCG6ACGJXQYM9H

The flight credit vouchers are also a code.

It should not matter who is using it.

  • AFAIK it is the name of the person that BOUGHT the the ticket OR the person who's name was ON the original ticket.
So, if YOU bought it but someone else has their name on it, that will be ok, As long as the name of the person that BOUGHT the ticket is you.

Glad you found out the violence it time!

  • If (check the T&C for the type of voucher you bought) but:
    If this applies, no problem.

"When redeeming this Voucher, the person named above must either be a passenger or a contact person in the booking"

Only 7 comments after almost 24 hours - seems like noone wants to deal with the potential PC'ness of what seems like a shitty situation!

  • If it's a credit voucher then no need to stress, the only requirement is to put the name on the voucher to contact person when you do the booking.
