What Is The Best Bang for Your Buck 4TB 2.5” SSD for Gaming

I am looking for a 4TB 2.5” SSD for gaming, I already have a 1TB M.2 main drive but need more storage (definitely looking for 4TB). I will still play high spec games from M.2 drive but they take up most of the space so need something for my main library of game installs (and photo storage etc).

Frame rate does not bother me and I don't generally play PvP online games.

So far I have found the following but unsure of how they compare or if there are better options for similar budget.
WD_BLACK 4TB P10 Game Drive $219 Officeworks
Seagate 4TB Expansion Portable Hard Drive (shuckable?) $198 Officeworks

PC Specs if needed:
B450 Tomahawk Max
R7 3700x
2070 Super
32GB DDR4 Ram

    WD_BLACK 4TB P10 Game Drive $219 Officeworks
Seagate 4TB Expansion Portable Hard Drive

These examples look to be external 3.5” or 2.5” hdd, rather than ssds. These will be pretty slow tbh

    I’m assuming your b450 board:
    1. only has a single Nvme slot (which is already taken)
    2. Doesn’t have a usbc header (so high speed usbc external enclosures are off the table)

so I would personally go for an internal sata ssd or maybe an Nvme drive using a pcie slot adaptor - which should provide faster speeds.

They’re a little more expensive, but the speed increase will be very noticeable over external spinning rust.

    • The MB has "Lightning Fast Game experience: 1x TURBO M.2, AMD Turbo USB 3.2 GEN2, Store MI technology"…does that make a difference?

Not really - it confirms you only have one NVME slot and any USB ports are limited to 10GB/s at most.

Crucial 2.5 SATA SSD is probably your best bang for buck.

I got a Samsung 870 QVO 4TB, seems to work well.

I have a Fanxiang 4TB from a previous deal. TLC by all accounts but no DRAM. All good so far.

Yeah these are fine for game storage drives.
I have installed these in multiple computers and still going strong.
Can get for around $200 when on sale.
