Tizen is crap, get an Android TV.

    • As someone that doesn't know shit, would like to know why this was downvoted. I would have thought Android would be better?

      • Android is better, they are salty. I have like 10x more apps on my Android TV verses dads Samsung. Also the Samsung TV channels they get are all junk shows streamed 24/7. I can do the same without it cluttering my ariel EPG.

        • (profanity) em then, I'm upvoting you haha

      • I unfortunately thought the same when i blew $3600 on sale, android tv is unfortunately plaged by issues which can be backed up by a bit of googling.
Android tv tends to crash apps aswell as just glitches with apps themselves for example disney in particular unusable at times, it's also known to have wifi issues ect.
Weirdly though some of these issues will disappear for a period (a month or so) if you factory restore the tv, not something i want to frequently have to do (reinstalling all my apps ect) on a tv i paid $3600 for. I also made them replace it under warranty before i realised it was an opperating system issue not the tv itself.
Another issue people have that i havent personally had a problem with is audio quality breakdown.

However i bought android tv specifically so i could run kodi with other streaming addons which is impossible for Tizen and as i didn't want another device it was my only choice (jokes on me though cause now i have another device connected just to watch disney)

Tizen however doesn't have any of these issues except your limited to the range of apps they support and it's not as good for gaming compaired to android.
You also get far superior picture quality with Tizen due to the processing, so at the end of the day it depends what your looking for, both are equally good and junk just in different ways.
I'm personally sticking with android and will probably get this to replace my parents that just broke.

  • So getting to tip my toes into the OLED market first time. Someone want to make it easy on me and tell me Samsung or LG ? Still running my Panasonic Plasma atm but guessing it has to be getting near EOL soonish

    • I prefer LG but this is a relatively good deal if you're looking for an OLED right now.
They're both going to look fantastic

    • Sony, for the OS

      No easy answer honestly.

Most people hate Samsung OS (not an issue if you use a streaming device), QD-OLED from what little testing data we have available are said to be more prone to burn-in/image retention. QD-OLED tends to have more washed out blacks in a brighter room. No Dolby Vision if you care. However, they have more "pop" to the colours with wider colour gamut, gets brighter in HDR and for longer.

LG C series have proven themselves to be pretty reliable, most people love it with no issue, C3 is brighter than previous generations, but not as bright as QD-OLED. People also complain about the LG WebOS being not great either. They're pretty solid, most people's go to especially at more of the entry level. G series uses MLA technology, higher price tag, brighter once again.

C3 price is still not as low as it should be at the moment, I believe maybe still another month or 2 before it goes down. Right now, this is a pretty damn good price for a QD-OLED at 55".

I'm sure I've missed a bunch of things, but trying not to go on for way too long.

      • Thank you for that. Use HTPC so wont have to use the OS. Cant say I am keen on the prone to burn-in. I like the black blacks on my plasma so might have to wa a bit see how the LG's go in price in a month or more

        • No worries, if you are very picky about black blacks that might be a potential concern if you like to watch things in a brighter room (depending on light source etc). Also yes, the more prone to burn-in is really what we have from extreme testing, how it is applicable in a regular usage case might differ depending on the person as well.

I'm also waiting for LG C3 42" or 48" to go down in price, hopefully I'll catch a deal in the next month or two.

The Frame 55" becomes $1019.15 using the same method.

    • Thanks! Ended up being $968.19 with the 15% loyalty voucher :)

If you have access to the Edu store, the TV is $1749 which should make it slightly cheaper if you stack the same discounts.

(technically I think negotiated deals shouldn't be listed as the price in the title?)

  • With all the inflation and rising cost of living, you all can still spend money on new TV lol.

  • If you have a valid old 15% code, the price comes down to 1533. Was considering a 65 inch s95c, but this is 1200 cheaper then the previous all time low for it. Could not argue with the price point.
Also most people reporting 2nd gen panels for 55 inch accross purchases of the last couple of months!

  • I got a 10% code but guy said it doesn’t work on EDU store, is that correct? I’ve never used their edu store before.

    • Not sure about the 10%, but the 15% wouldn't go through on the EDU store

  • Thanks easy process to get the 10%voucher via chat

    • If you are lucky you can even get 15% loyalty voucher instead of 10%. I got mine 2 days back.

  • Would this be the cheapest its gonna get? Im thinking they will discontinue this but it could get another deal in a few months….also that 15% voucher is like a 1 in a thousand chance, they all say 10% is the only thing they got.

Yeah it’s 10+5 for using the app to buy. It’s all how bad you need a tv now. Buying a tv now and looking back at prices in 12 months will never be good outcome

  • Avoid Saumsung like the plague! They are quick to do a sale but can't execute or deliver. There is also no customer service.

    1. Order made 2 months ago (and paid for) via app was only partly delivered.

    2. Samsung informed me that it unilaterally decided to cancel the unfulfilled part of the order. I said no you are not going to do that. I told them I bought over $300 worth of goods and needed the whole bundle to claim GST when I travel this week! They can't just decide not to deliver something because they sold it during one of the campaigns and now regret it!

    3. Customer Service is absolutely non-existent.

    4. Sure, you can get through to someone on the telephone after waiting for 30 minutes and yes they are all very sorry and empathetic with the wait, but they have such an overwhelming volume of calls that basically they spend all day apologising and nothing gets done!

    5. I have spent well over 10 hours trying to get my order from 2 months ago fulfilled!

CONCLUSION: AVOID Samsung like the plague.

    • Yeah - it's a real hit or miss with the Samsung online store

  • Hi everyone! Is anyone who can please share with the link for this offer?🙏 I was hoping to buy it just right now.
