Win/Chrome - Is It Possible to Recover What Data Was Submitted on a Form to a Particular Website?

This is going to sound really dumb… I eff'd up :c

I bought a Canon camera from JB which is eligible for a digital Visa cashback ($300), I submitted the claim with Canon with invoice/serial/email, but gave them a bogus name + phone number, just didn't want another company to have my details, figured it'll just come via email.

Today got an email from Canon saying the claims has been approved and they gave me a link to access the digital Visa card. But now I need to enter the original name + phone number + email to validate myself, which I stupidly didn't write it down.

Is it possible to recover via Chrome cache what information was submitted to the form to Canon? I rang them but they won't help as I couldn't confirm my identity.

Yes yes I know… Please help!

[edit] have searched high and low and doesn't seem possible once the Chrome session has been terminated, have reached out to the Visa issuer. Appreciate all your help guys.

  • You didn't get a copy of the inquiry in your email? Unless you give fake email too.

    • I used the real email, however in the first claim received email and the subsequent approved email it's just got the first name and a claim number, not any of the details which I used. So I have the first name and email, not the last name and the phone number.

  • Nothing saved when you double click the field? Saved data would show up again when filling in forms. If not, then there’s nothing to retrieve.

    • No I do not have autofill enabled.

Then the answer is no to:

I rang them but they won't help

hahahaha you expected them to tell you your details (or what is supposed to be your details)?

    • yeah yeah I know… I did explain what I did to them, figred the legit invoice and validated serial would overrule the situation.

      • No, because the only details you have were readily available in the email, and your email could have been intercepted/compromised.

        • No? I have the invoice details/serial, which only I would have, and were only submitted to Canon.

Email from Canon had "Hi name" your claim number is x, then another one with your claim is approved.

Hello, my name is Mr. Burns, I believe you have a letter for me

  • I had issues with my cb but it was due to the card issuer

    Try to email

    [email protected]

    Or email issuer
    [email protected]
    They were quite helpful

    • I did try canonpromotions but no dice, I'll try truerewards. Thank you

  • Too late - your data has already been sold on the dark web

  • Can you claim again?

    • I can't, as the invoice + serial number has already been validated as legitimate and "used up" per Canon, I did ask that whilst on the phone.

      • Try to fill out the same form and things such as double clicking, arrow keys, first letter within those fields. If nothing shows, you've lost it.

        • Nah autofill is not enabled, I did find a method via developer mode however it requires the Chrome session to not be terminated.

22 It is the responsibility of the Participant to provide correct details. Delays and non-payment of Claims that arise as a result of supplying incorrect details are the responsibility of the Participant

Terms and conditions of the promotion tell me it's not looking good. I'm guessing you didn't read the terms and conditions. Have you not seen that episode of South Park?

    • I know I messed up, no fingers are pointing anywhere else.

I'm not the tin foil hat type, part of it stems from having my license stolen from letterbox years ago and it took HALF A YEAR to sort out some knobhead's joy ride with my details. These days unless I have to (gov/utility/finances/etc) I avoid using real details. The cashback claim seems straight forward and just didn't occur to me.

Entertain me though, which ep of South Park?

    • haha, have indeed seen that ep.

    • Do you think they could eat as a human centipede in reverse using intero-rectogestion?

So you had been ok at giving them your invoice/serial number/email address, but drew the line at using your real name and phone number?

    Interesting…..

Sorry chrome doesn't store this stuff unless you 'saved' the details.

  • $300 lesson, learn it well ;)
