Hey all, not really someone that's "good" at gifting presents so I was wondering if people had any suggestions for a mate's 18th.
He wanted us to get gifts under $20 AUD but so far everything I can think of, he already has. Like headphones, a watch, plants and a keyboard.
Any suggestions would help, cheers all. :)
UPDATE - Some of you suggested an experience that lasts longer than an item so I'm gonna get him a voucher for ArtVo in Docklands. Thank you all!

Just let him know he isn't obligated, or lie and say you got it on a deal for $20. But then you get the trap of him giving it away or treating it poorly because he believes it only cost OP 20 bucks. But that's the gamble you take with such white lies.

Nope, it's very simple actually. You put the funnel in the top of the hose, and hold the hose in a U shape. You pour beer in the funnel, then you lift it up to your mouth and guzzle the lot as quickly as possible.

- Materials for drawing and draw him some pictures
- 75% off calendar and/or planner because it's nearing the end of Jan
- A book of coupons for doing things that you normally do together, like a night of drinking together (both BYO booze) or going to the footy/cricket/whatever together or for a hug
- Make him a newspaper hat to wear for his birthday
- A mug/mousepad/shirt whatever you can afford that he might use with a picture of you both on it
- A collage with pictures of you, him and your other friends
- Go to an op shop and see if you can find something worth more than $20 that you can get for a bargain
- If he likes puzzles or jokes, print out some from the internet and make him a "book" of them
- P plates if he's going to get his Ps

most things will be either unappreciated or just become unwanted junk - experiences are remembered long after junk is forgotten.
write them a handwritten note describing all the things you value about their friendship and they'd more likely keep and treasure that for life.
Love this idea, coupled it with a pot plant for another mate's 17th and he loved it. I remember writing in the note that I hoped our friendship would grow like the plant will grow.
