It is for $9 in Woolies, so this seems to be a 'better than half' price promo. No minimum quantity restriction. Amazon is probably price-matching Chemist Warehouse so the credit should go to the latter and one should purchase from them if convenient.

$2.70 is a good price for a 200g toothpaste anyway.

  • I tried other oral-b toothpastes (gum, enamel protection) and despite what some reviewers say I did not experience any mouth burn. Was unable to find any professional reviews, unfortunately. Don't know which one is objectively the best as per scientific evidence: this, pronamel or anything else.

    • In programming I'm always glad for the random bits of knowledge and ways of doing things which GPT4 knows, so hopefully that carries across to toothpaste knowledge:

When choosing a toothpaste, consider the following ingredients and red flags:

      Desirable Ingredients:
      1. Fluoride: The most important ingredient for preventing tooth decay.
      2. Calcium and Phosphates: Help remineralize teeth.
      3. Potassium Nitrate or Strontium Chloride: Good for sensitive teeth.
      4. Hydrated Silica: An abrasive to help remove plaque and stains.

      Red Flags:
      1. Triclosan: May disrupt hormones; some concerns about antibiotic resistance.
      2. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS): Can cause irritation in some people.
      3. Artificial Sweeteners and Dyes: Potential allergens and irritants.
      4. Parabens: Linked to hormone disruption and potentially cancer.
      5. Propylene Glycol: Can be irritating to mucous membranes.
      6. Microbeads: Plastic particles that can be harmful to the environment.

      Other Considerations:
      - ADA Seal of Approval: Indicates the toothpaste meets certain safety and efficacy standards.
      - Specific Needs: Like whitening, tartar control, or for sensitive teeth.
      - Taste and Texture: Important for ensuring regular use.

Always consult with a dentist for personalized recommendations, especially if you have specific dental concerns.

      • Which brand/ variant of toothpaste do you recommend?

        • Well that was just ChatGPT's answer. It probably doesn't know Australian brands well enough, though you could ask it to evaluate them one by one.

      • Do any tick all these boxes?

  • Needed toothpaste actually so this is perfect. Looks decent got 2. I love Amazon prime. Thanks OP!

  • Cheers OP was running out - got 5

    Edit: sold out

Made in China. There are still some varieties in their range made in Germany, e.g. Advanced Deep Clean.

  • Contains SLS. No Thanks.

  • does this make peoples' mouth insides peel? have had couple of known folks complain about it

    • It could be from the sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) in this toothpaste causing mucosal/skin irritation. Though it could also be other factors like hypersensitivity/allergies, having an autoimmune disease, etc. (though it probably is the former if you know multiple people experiencing this). Generally, and from what I know as dental student, SLS can cause irritation to the oral cavity in some people but itself is not carcinogenic and is mostly safe. If you have used other toothpastes with SLS then you're probably fine, or if you want to be extra careful then you can use a toothpaste without SLS (though SLS is in many other products like shampoos, body washes, lotions, etc.)

I personally use this toothpaste and so does my family and none of us have experienced mouth peeling, though YMMV.

      Good article on mouth peeling.
