        Just one of my haters

Do you know why they're doing that? If Target stock anko stuff, there's really no difference between Kmart and Target stores anymore…

      • +3

Target won't be around much longer, they'll just close the stores once leases expire, there's no point having 2 shops selling the same stuff in the 1 shopping centre.

Same thing happened to Tandy when it was bought by Dicksmith. Products merged, then shortly after all the Tandy stores were either shutdown or replaced with DS stores.

Probably part of a multi year strategy that started a while back when Target country stores were shut down or replaced by K Hub stores.

Clearance items can't be free shipped with one pass
    Target !

If only it lived up to it's name. I've found it to be absolutely useless in terms of shipping for items which are low stock or no stock in a store near me.

I love Target before they do this, their quality is always fair for the price when compare to the overpriced product being sold by department stores. I particularly like their homewares and manchester, really good quality for the price ! I never like Kmart stuffs unless I am buying something for one off or infrequent use, they simply sell cheap sh*t !
Sorry Target, you now lost me as a customer !

give it 12 months and Target won't be a thing anymore most likely…

Agree and that's the sad reality of retail in Australia. We are too savvy customers and it is hard for them to make money. For the 40 years since I moved to Australia I withnessed the gradual decline of department stores here, do anyone still remember MacDowell & East ?? And both David Jones and Myer closing more and more stores. They used to stock premium quality products but not anymore. I still own a wool overcoat made in Australia which I bought from Myer and I remember the Suart crystal wares, the Wedgewood china and cutlery made in England, gradually they stock and sell inferior quality products but still demand premium price and therefore they are closing more and more stores as they don't sell. These days, I don't even bother set foot on Myer or David Jones anymore !!

Yeah it’s sad, even though we can go online, I feel we’re losing something. Bought a coffee press from Myer, quality brand. Very happy. All those in Kmart fail after a few months. I am happy to pay more for something that lasts, but Kmart is so hit and miss. Sometimes I just want to go to a department store that sells quality goods.

    • Can I ask what in particular from their homewares you dislike? I actually am a massive fan of their homewares and general home appliances. I'm sure you've had your own experiences, but I found when we were buying Breville and Sunbeam and other mid-line appliances they worked "ok" but most of the time they'd break or degrade after a year or two.

So much of our stuff (stand mixer, blender, kettle, toaster, tons of other kitchen appliances, fans, dehumidifier, vacuum, tables/furniture) is from Kmart and I'm just blown away by the quality. The way I look at it, we could easily pay between 2-5 times the price for mid or even high-line alternatives, but we'd be getting maybe a 30% increase in quality or experience.

But I do agree, Target was always that slight step up in quality, always at a reasonable price. It will be sad to lose Target's position in the market as it kept Kmart pricing capped since they both operated within the same price-conscious bracket for consumers.

Kmart's kitchen utensils, plates and dishes, a simple example like a silicon spatula, if you compare the one from Target to the one from Kmart you will know what I mean. Also Target's bed linens are superior quality when compare to Kmart's, I don't like to create landfill and that's why I don't shop at Kmart often. When you are buying common brand products like Breville and Sunbeam, which is just standardise across different retails of course you try to find the best price.

I much prefer the Target clothes but I can see Target vanishing in the future :(

What a shame to see Target going out of business. Targets products are good quality and great buys especially when on sale.
Kmart stuff is sometimes good value too, but a lot of the stuff is cheap disposable quality.
Truly sad to see what’s happening to our favourite store.

Not only better quality products, but their registers are at the front of the store too!
