Need a building inspection completed in inner west suburb of melb and don't have any contacts around the area myself.
Have been provided with 1 contact but no reviews I can find online.
If anyone has a suggestion of a good contact, it'd be appreciated.
And before it's said, I do know Google reviews exist but I'm rather fond of the ozb peeps personal experience in particular.

we tried booking them and founded that they were 5-6 asking times more than the other inspectors were charging.
@Jimothy Wongingtons: That comment isn't mine but yeah I do like how thorough he is. Cost of 5x $400 is $2k. Which is less than 0.5% of the median house in Melbourne.

I have contacted about 15 building inspectors in Melbourne.
Site inspections, Darbecca and Correct Inspections will identify defect and quote you with the regulation that is breaching. But they only inspect newly built properties.
I have gone with Landmark inspections and Altez building inspection based on sample inspection reports. Altex ended up being more detailed with more investigations.
You can always ask inspectors for sample inspection report and you can easily rule out bad ones.
Below are quotes I got for building + pest inspections.

When it comes to house stuff this is a really good idea, so many of them just contract it out to whatever local supplier and it's completely hit or miss. I picked one of the best companies I could find for a house cleaning, cost a fortune and they did an awful job. Simply terrible, and to top it off the neighbours talked to me afterwards about the people screaming obscenities in the house.
House inspection, dude did a great job. Picked up on tonnes of things, crawled under the house and in the ceiling, it was tip top. I looked online afterwards and they have terrible reviews.
Anyway, no advice, just I approve of your methodology.
Thanks. Reviews are good but testimonials are better. Reviews are more easily bought on google than testimonials on ozb.
We have gone with Darbecca for our new build and we are nearing our last inspection. Reports are through and the team have been great to deal with. They have come highly recommended from the various sources that we looked at.
Depends on who you get maybe.
I went with Darbecca for a building stage. The inspector knew my site supervisor and was quite friendly with him. I found more glaring defects than he did. He didn't even carry the build plans with him for most of his inspection. I attended the inspection as was my right and as I informed my builder as well and this guy had to gall to tell me that "the clients usually does not attend inspections and that allows them to concentrate on their work more". Needless to say, I dropped them for the rest of the stage inspections.
