Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find the best-value 2-channel (front & rear) dashcam for my dad to use on his ute with a canvas canopy. The rear camera will need to be mounted externally on the tow car, and thus needs to be weatherproof and/or waterproof.
He's had one from Elinz for a few years but the rear camera has always been a bit unreliable. He loves the rear camera being used as a reverse camera when backing up to the trailer. It's a mid 2000s vehicle without a modern head unit, hence no reverse camera on screen option there.
I've always used Viofo and found them to be great, however it doesn't look like they have a suitable model available for a car (they have one designed for a motorbike I believe), so any recommendations on something else around max $300 would be fantastic.
Cheers,
KC.
I have one of these and use it for my rearview mirror since I cannot see through my Ute Canopy either. It is also a dashcam.
It is perfect for what you want. Front and Rear Cameras.
I don't use it as a Front Camera as it is obstructed by the "technology" panel where the rear view mirror is. I have a Ford Ranger 2021 PX3, so all the smart tech near the review obstructs the front camera, but I have a separate dashcam anyway for the front.
But, anyway, the product is perfect for what you want. Just make sure you put a big Micro SD card in it.
