[QLD, NSW] Dreamworld Locals Annual Pass $50 (with $50 Voucher, Limit 50,000 Claims) @ Experience Oz

1810
GCSUMMERFUNDS

Full credit to user @great-price in the Village Roadshow deal.

Today QLD state premier Steven Miles announced 50,000 $50 vouchers would be made available to boost tourism on the Gold Coast. Couple that with already discounted tickets to Dreamworld and you've got yourself $50 for a years worth of entry, as well as to White Water World, the SkyPoint Observation deck at Q1 Surfers Paradise, Dreamworlds Happy Halloween event, ice skating entry at Dreamworlds Winterfest event as well as food/bevereage/merchandise discounts.

These are normally valued at $149 online or $159 at the gate.

Enter coupon "GCSUMMERFUNDS" at checkout for $50 off. One use per email and valid for SE QLD residents only. Must travel before March 29th 2024.

Though please note that this website is copping an absolute flogging right now, it took quite some time to manage to get two passes purchased.

Only one discounted ticket purchase per email.

"locals" defined as: Living in Queensland (4000 - 4999) or Northern NSW (2450-2490)

Update as of around 4pm - site has been completely ozbargained. Hopefully back up later today.

Update 5pm - website shall be offline for a few more hours yet. It apparently went down at 2pm QLD, so you may not have received the emailed confirmation if you managed to sneak in after this. I suggest giving it a break tonight and seeing if their system can catch up. Please be patient with the staff on the other end of the phones!

Update Tuesday - shows over folks! Dreamworld annual passes have been pulled. I look forward to sharing the rides with you all. Note the $50 discount is still valid at the time of writing for lots of other really great experiences down the coast. If you didn't receive your tickets via email, please give them a call and they'll easily sort you out. Call centre was getting smashed this morning but I think it's eased up.

Update Friday - WE BACK BABY! Locals annual pass for $50 is available once again!!
jumped the gun - looks like there were only a tiny amount made available today.

      • Yes that’s right, we had to provide a copy of our lease when we first moved here.

I transitioned to being a local 20 years ago. And I know locals who were born here. Today I'm proud to say that my daughter is a local too.

  • -6

Wow! As a non-local, I will make sure we avoid the Gold Coast theme parks for the next year, or else we'll spend the whole time waiting in long queues with all the locals!

    • +1

      Great.

    • +1

      sounds pretty good to me

    • +1

      Wonderful!

    • -1

      Good to hear…

    • -2

Please don't, we don't need more Mexicans or Shitneyans here

    • Why all the negging? My comment was more aimed at the incompetance of the Qld premier spending Qld taxpayer money on subsidising corporations while driving away tourists than anything about Queenslanders…
I can see why locals wouldn't want tourists around, but that's completely counter-productive to the purpose of this subsidy. If these entertainment corporations need more visitors to survive then the Qld government should be incentivising tourism, not disincentivising it.
Unless the Qld government is only doing it to try make themselves more popular after dogmatically pursuing an Indigenous treaty after Queensland emphatically voted No in the Voice referendum? Even so, that's not a great use of taxpayer money…

    502 error

    Mod: Edited comment

    • Whoops! 502
Sorry for the inconvenience but we are experiencing a temporary problem. Please try again in a few moments.

      • +1

Probably hosted on crazy domains or some BS.

Clearly not equipped to handle traffic.

  • Site is up, just very slow and doesn't load properly - images and text is all messed up

    • yeah can get things into my cart but can't checkout too many errors

  • Down again

  • back up and bought my ticket after 40 mins of refreshing

  • +1

Managed to book 4 for myself and another one for wife's sister family. Just need to do two more.

As long as you get to the credit card payment and able to click on processing, it would always go through. (at least for my experience) Just need to refresh enough to get there.

Site completely down now. Keep refreshing! :D

    • Hey, did you get the tickets for $50 each? I can only see the $50 discount? Thanks in advance!

      • Yes, you have to buy one ticket at a time to get $50 each.

    • 3 times ive clicked processing then gotten the "maintenance" page. Ive got 8 pending charges on my CC for 2 completions.

  • Site back up for me; booked our tickets with no hitches or slowness here

    • its a new look site, they seem to have fixed it.

      • For a bit. Now getting 502s again!

      • yeah nah

  • +1

Site was up for 4 minutes.I managed to get 3. But by the time I was ready for the 4th it went down again.

    • Same here. So many highs & lows

    • Same here. And one of email still hasn’t received voucher, and one check-out been charged but went back to pay again.

  • Yay, finally got one

  • +1

Is the redemption online? or do we need to physically enter dreamworld before March 29th

    • I guess yes, have to show them ticket and take photo

    • +2

The 'barcode vouchers' you buy are from ExperienceOz, THEN you put into the www.dreamworld.com.au/tickets?promocode=redeemlocals website to 'redeem' as valid annual tickets that you present as entry with the QR codes.

      • Do you enter them all as Adult tickets (because they are full priced tickets) or Adult / Child depending on who is coming?

        • I did the mix of both, but likely makes no significant difference otherwise.

      • yea i thought so. Just confusing because fine prints next to the barcode tells u to redeem and collect at front entry.

      • If we aren't gonna go for a while, do we just redeem closer to the date?

        • Maybe set some sort of alarm. Would be a shame to lose the tickets

        • The ExperienceOz ones had to be 'redeemed' by the end of March or so. The actual Dreamworld tickets look to expire 12 months from purchase/redemption.

I'd normally say you could wait a couple of months, but given the beaurecratic nature of the Qld tourism voucher/discount I'd rather not get to March and have the rug pulled… so I'd redeem sooner rather than later to avoid any shenanigans.

  • back up for 1 minute, got the last one!

    yay!

    • Same here. Picked up 4.

  • So how exactly do they ensure only people from SEQ use this promo code?

I understand that the theme park checks for SEQ / NNSW for locals pass but this site allows a lot of non-local deals too.

    • We had to show a current lease

    • The voucher you buy online has to be exchanged for an annual pass at the gate, and they check your ID at the gate (or more likely they just ask for an address)

      • That's just for the local pass (which allows Northern NSW too). The promo code used has no checks though?

"One use per email and valid for SE QLD residents only."

    • Present your mobile device with photo ID and proof of QLD residency or Northern NSW postcodes 2450 - 2490

Not sure a bank statement will work?

  • anyone had any luck in the last little while? been frying for 90 mins and cannot get to the website.

  • Can these be redeemed under a different name if you can't purchase the required amount for the family?

    • Pass is non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be resold or redeemed for cash.

    • Specifically for Dreamworld the name of the purchaser/transaction is irrelevant.

Once redeemed it is tied to one individual with a photo attatched.

  • Anyone get an error after being charged along the lines of "Unfortunately we have had an issue confirming your booking with the tour supplier. "

I haven't received any email as of yet, wondering if i should try again or hold off till the morning and ring them. Dont want to miss out though, last one needed

    • +1

the new setup you can download the voucher after the payment page

      • This is the page that came up after the payment

        • ah ok well I called them & was told they would call me to process manually but I'm wondering whether to just get one more and cancel the other if they call

          • @Irishness: Yeah i think that might be the way to go. Cant imagine you wouldn't be able to cancel one especially with the issues they've had with the website.

            • @hsingh1186: yeah now have tkts sorted will cancel the outstanding one, bet this is causing the customer service team / accounts a few headaches

    • Yeah I got this error on my first one, and my next 3 went fine. Now im in a dilemma do I put one more through and seek a refund on the first failed one? I have 4 members in my family to buy. All 4 payments can be seen on my CC tho, no pending transaction.

      • Well im doing another one now with the same email and it accepted the voucher so if it was one per email i assume the first didnt go through otherwise it would have said i can't use the voucher?

Im just going to keep trying until i get the email. I cant imagine they have a leg to stand on to not give refunds with the shitshow of a website they've got

Update - Tried again and it emailed me account details it automatically created for me. Logged in and its showing up in my orders.

        • I don't think they are enforcing the same email. I just did 3 using the same email and it wasn't a problem.

          • +1

@PR0r: that would have saved alot of time if i had known earlier haha

    • +1

Did you get an email with login details to the site? Login and see if your ticket is in your account.

      • +1

I did get that email thank you. Have updated my comment

  • Back up at 9(ish) QLD time and managed to snag 4. I found incognito mode hit more often and was faster too, however YMMV.

  • Got my family of 5 one each 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

  • Got 4. Current annual passes run out end of April.

So will activate these close to the last day 29th March, making it an 11month extension.

  • Coupons Run out?

Unfortunately the coupon code could not be validated

    • We had heaps of different types of glitches happening. I would just refresh and do it again

    • Same

    • There’s 50k.. won’t run out anytime soon

      • There might 50k of the $50 discount. The $100 Dreamworld annual passes might be what has run out.

But as others have said, I would keep checking as there have been so many problems with the site.

Fortunately, I got mine at 9pm

EDIT - Looks like they are back

      • That aged like milk

    • Hit Apply again, it should go through…
      Same thing happened to me..

    • Same
Wont be able to redeem the reference code on dreamworld promotional code section.
      Error: " No package found"
      Is this same for you?

      • Any solutions to this?
I am getting the same problem

        • +1

Redeem using the link in voucher and add the tickets from there..it should work fine.
Don't put the code in promotional code section.

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one for each of the family.
    🙏

  • Works now! Have to act fast before it's down again lol

  • +2

Geez, show this man some love with an upvote. There’s 19,000 clicks and OzBargain is crashing the Dreamworld website.

    • It was crashing before it was listed on OzB

  • +1

"A limit of one ‘GCSUMMERFUNDS’ promotional code per person will apply to South East Queensland residents aged 18 years and over." — any risk these could be denied if redeemed for kids?

    • Oops! Too late for me.

    • +1

Nah you have the ticket. It's already been purchased.

    • +1

From what I can tell there are absolutely no checks. They can't even confirm you are from SE QLD.

I did try to follow the rules anyway but I missed the part about 18+ though and have used it for my kids :(

  • +1

Heap thanks.. just got 4! Thanks OP.

  • I ordered 3 but didn't get any emails, I have 2 of the windows still open with the coupon but don't have the third one. Will I ever get the ticket in the email?

    • +1

Yep, came through about 30 mins later..

      • +1

Ok great, hopefully they come through soon!

        • Did those emails come through ?

          • @Danger: Nope, not yet, been about 45 minutes so far

Edit: Okay they've come through now, took about 1 hour.

  • Well this has been fun but have annual passes for dreamworld confirmed via emails.

Gosh the gov thinking this would be a good promo - going to be so much disappointment when some can’t get tickets.

  • Does anyone know if you can for example by the Escape Pass for Village Road Theme Park (Not Local Pass) for someone else that is not SEQ resident? How would they know when just receive the voucher code and enter into the app?

    • proof of address to be shown at gate

      • It's a tourist / non-local pass so no proof of address required.

      • Thank you, but the escape pass is not a local pass, why would they need this? It says not transferable on the website, but I was wondering if this was after the pass had been redeemed?

    • I’m not sure if you can buy gifts for non-locals. Have you read the t&c’s
