Has anyone gone from a flagship Samsung to the Motorola G54?

My S20+ which I'd been using for 3 years completely smashed and I need to purchase a new phone. I was getting due for a replacement soon anyway. The G54 matches up really well spec-wise, but wanting some real opinions on what it's like to use. I'm guessing it's not as 'snappy' or smooth to operate?
My budget isn't super tight, and if a deal were to come up on one of the s23 variants soon I'd be happy to buy one. But would I find the G54 just fine to use? If so, at about $230 it'd be a no brainier for me.
My usage is reasonably heavy with some mobile gaming, watching YouTube and NBA and then all the rest of regular phone usage.
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

The Pixel 7 is like $470 and is probably your best bet at getting a flagship phone at a mid-range price.

  • Have returned 3 x Motorola Edge 30's in the last few months, they over-heat quite easily and then shut off for hours :/

Not sure if it's an entire manufacturer issue, or just model specific, but it's put me off Motorola all together …

All the Pixels have been fine in comparison ;)

    • Thanks! How do you find using a pixel in comparison to Samsung? If you've had both!

      • I prefer pure Android (Pixel), but if you prefer the Samsung UI then there are cut down Samsungs to consider …

I always install nova launcher, guess that means I'd be fine with pixel right?

  • I go with a G84 in preference to a G54.
More storage and RAM and apparently will receive more Android updates as it is a newer phone.
There have been deals recently but you probably can't wait I guess. Still only $399 at full price.

Have a look at the deals posted on the g84 and g54 as there are some good comments.

  • Yep, Note10 to G54. No significant complaints.

    • chatheads in messenger are not supported on non-samsung phones

    • camera is sometimes better, sometimes worse. But mostly better i'd say.
