Need to replace an old Herschel pop quiz and an old OG country road duffle. Thanks op!!

Have one, can't remember what i paid but the faux leather handles have peeled away and it doesn't look great. I wouldn't buy it again.

    • +5

Had a look on google and it seems that this complaint came up a few times (albeit, nothing super recent) - but thank you for this - reaffirmed my thought of not purchasing

      • +2

i mean i still use it, and the rest of the bag is holding up fine. These days its used as a swim bag for when i take the kids to their swim lessons.

    • +6

Got the same issue with mine. Probably had it 5 years, would not buy again.

    • +4

Exactly this - and I've only had mine around 2 years.

    • +1

ditto. the overall quality is not great, and the faux leather bits peel off and wear out so quickly. would not recommend.

    • +1

Same with mine, had two now, first one the zip failed and the second one the handles peeled and I binned it. Terrible quality wouldn't buy again.

    • +1

Same thing happens to my bag, not regularly used.
Had to chuck it out :(

    • +1

same for me. i bought this and the backpack when it first came out 10+ years ago. i knew i shouldn't have bought the 1st time because of the fake leather handle. i didn't know it was going to turn out so bad so fast.

    • +1

      Damn almost bought it

    • Any suggestions for a duffle bag in similar price range?

      • +1

Try Bellroy when they have a sale or for something more rugged Patagonia, you wont get anything decent for this price point nowadays

    • I barely used mine and the handle disintegrated, everything is made like crap these days

  • Great bag, bought one late last year!

  • +5

Sweet jessus, even at $55 its over priced. Is it the fake leather which does it?

    • +1

Herschel was like Frank Green and Stanley water bottles way back in like 2018. Overpriced but Millennials loved them because influences told them to.

      I assumed they had disappeared.

I still maintain Crumpler is the worst but. So expensive, cheap nylon and they all look absolutely horrible.

Marketing is a hell of a drug.

      • I still maintain Crumpler is the worst but. So expensive, cheap nylon and they all look absolutely horrible.

Crumpler lives off their camera bags reputation which were fantastic

        • -1

crumpler have excellent customer service, i had a zip break on me and some stitching coming undone after owning it for 11 years and both time they fixed it for free

  • I have a feeling the delivery is going to break the deal

    Novel Duffle Bag

Can it store things besides books?

    • +1

No it's not for books, its a unique idea duffle bag

      • +2

        How novel!

  • This is a duff, don't be a duff!

  • +3

Such an overrated bag, or brand in general.

    • I have to disagree, I've had a backpack of their brand for over 10 years now and it's perfectly fine. I also own this exact bag in the deal and haven't had any issues with leather flaking off or whatever people mention.

  • +1

It’s also on sale in black and grey.
I purchased the black one. Thanks for posting OP

Really gone down hill city beach I remember when I use to love this shop now their merchandising is so poor. No click and collect from Brisbane CBD store, suck my dick city beach.

City bich is that the derogetiry term for a chick on bondi

Had one ages ago, great bag for a couple of years. However, as others have mentioned the 'leather' on the handle peeled and to add to it, the bright white bits turned yellow over time. It served its purpose while I still had it but it's now in the trash. Not a Buy It For Life item.

    • +1

I swear Herschel and too many other brands design a lot of their stuff to be thrown out within a year. It’s such a waste and terrible for the environment too!

  • +1

The fake leather handles peel after a couple of uses! Great bag but wait til theres a sale on one with the polyester/canvas handles. Got one for 5 years and going strong

  • +1

I own this from Canada and recommend it. The leather is fine after a while. If it's a gym bag it'll get abused for sure but like the shoe compartment and lightweight for flight carry on.

  • Any other overnight/shoulder bags to jump on before grabbing this?

Don't care about brand, just looking for something decent quality and large. Will only get used a few times a year.

  • Had one of these bags and the faux leather handles peeled after a few years. Otherwise a nice enough bag - but not something that would last you many years.

  • +1

The faux leather barely lasts, it’s not fit for purpose considering it fails with limited use. Mine was just stored for around a year and the handles peeled without any use.

  • I have had one for quite a few years and the leather is fine, but haven’t used it that much recently.

What I do remember is the squeaking from the plastic bits that hold the main strap. Man that got annoying real quick.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Got the raven cross hatch version which should avoid the PU problem.

I have a Country Road Duffle bags from the mid 90s that's unbreakable. Wouldn't get any other brand.
