AOC Q27G2S/EU 27" 165Hz QHD 1ms Adaptive Sync IPS Gaming Monitor $319 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C/ $20 off with mVIP) @ Mwave

270

Was looking for a new monitor to replace my old one that just stopped working and came across this.

Looks pretty good and ticks all the boxes for me; 1440p, 165Hz, 27-inch, IPS panel + has gaming in the title (jk)

Good price for a budget gaming monitor if you're also in the market.

  • Does anybody know if vrr works over HDMI with this? Specifically g-sync.

    • what is VRR? I have 155 Hz version of this and GSync works on DP.

Variable refresh rate. Gsync and Freesync are just the Nvidia and AMD specific names for their implementations

        • Yeah I need g-sync over HDMI :/

          • @CVonC: Isn't G-Sync need a DP ? I have read that it is not working over HDMI somewhere, probably only for FreeSync only monitors.
Any particular reason for the requirement of G-Sync over HDMI ? My GPU only got 1 HDMI, but has 3 DP.

@bazingaa: My laptop's 3060 is connected only via HDMI and doesn't have a mux switch. You can get g-sync over HDMI 2.1.

              • @CVonC: ah! my laptop also got a 3060 but never tried that. I think HDMI also directly soldered to GPU without a mux as yours (Nitro 5 from a previous deal). Anyway, I don't have much experience with HDMI, specially on newer versions. I mostly use my desktop PC with ex-miner 3090 and it got DP.

                • @bazingaa: Yeah I've got the Nitro 5 too :)

                  • @CVonC: have you flashed 135 W VGA BIOS? There was a thread with that

@bazingaa: Yeah I remember that. I wanted to try but couldn't be bothered in the end. You?

    • HDMI 2.0 so no

      • Does it have to be 2.1 though since this is only QHD not 4k? I think the new Dell 27" QHD mentioned below supports g-sync over HDMI 2.0 but only if console mode is enabled.

        • If you are looking to get VRR via HDMI, yes it must be HDMI2.1 which sucks. I have made so many attempts to get my monitor running with g sync via HDMI, it is just not possible over 2.0

          • @RobBoss: Which monitor do you have? The Dell G2724D seems to be the only one I know of that's QHD with support for VRR over HDMI 2.0. There's also the Dough Spectrum (QHD with HDMI 2.1) but that's a scam company.

            • @CVonC: Ok bit of correction on my end, G sync has no way of working via HDMI 2.0 but I have heard that freesync is fine with 2.0. I have the 2721DGF

  • I have 155 Hz version of this, got for $100 more back then :(

  • hmm tempting looking for a pair of 27s for side monitors for my sim rig

  • Thanks for the post OP. Looks like a good deal. I doubt I'll pick one up but I think centrecom is matching that price

bought this @ Mwave in 2020 for $319. good monitor, tho refunded as it developed dead pixels within a couple months

  • hi guys, any thoughts on this deal vs a deal like this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/812912 ?
looking a a cheap 1440p ips monitor but dont really need it now, thinking of either getting this or waiting for another deal like the dell

    cheers

  • HDR quality?

  • just be careful of buying aoc monitors, bought a 27g2 and apparently the panel inside dies very quickly, as in higher refresh rates will cause your screen to flicker and force you to lower it. currently im at 75hz on a 144hz monitor and from what ive read eventually it will go down to 60 and die completely.
