Blackberry bold 9700 on $49 vodafone cap for 12 months with $20/month discount.
Total minimum cost over 12 months is $348.
See link for phone and plan details.

Mod: Changed expiry to Dec 20

Now I just checked my bill they have charged me $49/month plus $10 for handset. I lost my contract through a email clean up, but I still have the delivery docket with date 02/12/11. I trusted them as I am a very loyal 10 years customer and have 4 postpaid numbers with them. and I use direct debt to pay my bills. I probably would have never found out if I did not want do a plan upgrade. I tried to call them a couple of times in the past days, spent hours and hours arguing, with the frist phone call they told me, my contract was lost from their side and ask me to provide my copy, when I told them I lost my they changed the tone of vioce and told me no such promotion existed when i signed up. After my follow up calls, I run out of options. Could someone that bought the same contract send me their contract copy please? so I can bring it to a vodafone shop to solve my situation. Alternately, if anyone has got any suggestion please let me know. Thanks in advance.

  • Please be carefull with vodafone.

    Truer words were never spoken!

It's not that they're overly shifty, they're just grossly incompetent on so many levels…

  • Threaten them by talking to the telecommunications ombudsman, then ditch them and sign up with Telstra. All their 'free' talk that 'free' text this are nothing but cons. Both have oversold and under equipped their networks so they will have to raise their prices to get even close to the level of service Telstra already provide imo.

  • Yeah their CEO admitted that they bungled badly with capacity planning.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-10-14/chief-admits-smart-pho…

And social media, including this one, is merciless.

  • You poor thing. Hope your problem gets sorted out soon. I've so much trouble with postpaid, that I've had given up and switched to prepaid. It's not that prepaid is cheaper, you just deal with less of this unnecessary trouble with fixed bills. Prepaid may cost more since you have to buy a phone upfront. Let us know how you get along with voda.

    • If your using 'prepaid' for work, then the taxman will not let you claim it as a work related expense, least thats what my accountant advised …

  • We all know the promotion did exist at that time. From experience I can tell you you're going to have a far less stressful time if you deal with one of their online staff in the forums - they're generally very good.

told me, my contract was lost from their side and ask me to provide my copy

That's pretty shoddy on their part. It's probably not reasonable of them to expect that you, the customer kept a copy when they couldn't even manage it themselves.

Go through the forums and get in email contact with one of their people through the forums (they'll organise this for you) - you could always link to the topic above I guess. If all else fails after that, contact the ombudsman.

EDIT: Seriously though - you allow someone to direct debit for nearly a year without checking up on them? And I don't know about you, but I get an invoice each month clearly stating the amount they're going to be taking.

  • I had a similar problem - they promised 1 Gig of data monthly instead of 200mb, to match Crazy Johns. Five months later, still no data upgrade. Even once they said they'd do it, and then texted me to confirm, it still didn't happen.

That, combined with the crappy coverage means I won't be going back to them when my contract is done. Idiots on so many levels.

  • Problem solved if they have lost your contract. what can they prove except you have been paying them, i would just stop paying. See what happens, they dont have anything on you now.

    • Nope, easy for them to prove that you'd agreed to their terms: explicit performance.

  • All I can say is I am on this blackberry plan for 24 months though (joined Sep11) with same $49 cap plan and $20/month discount. Didn't know this 12 months plan came out but if so this discount does exist. I joined through a dealer shop so never get a contract as such, just an invoice.

  • +1

Had problem with them as well where i got charge $100+ when i haven't even received my phone (bought the plan online). Call cust service a few time but no luck as they were so rude and talk to me in sm kinda alien language and even refuse to pass me on to their manager when i requested them to.
Feed up with their unhelpful service, i lodge formal complaint to TIO, not vodafone. TIO will chase them up for answer everytime someone lodge complaint through them, the company in the complaint (in this case vodafail) have to pay fine. Each time the complaint got escalated, they will be fined again.
In a week, vodafail contacted me back (this time, someone who speak english, polite and have the willingness to help). She sort out all the problem for me in a jiffy, refund me my money and pass on whatever thing that they advertise to me (i order the phone+plan when they have the promotion as well). I.m happy with just that, eve nthough i know if i'm not, they might offer me sm freebie :p
Try it out. I have recomend TIO to few of my friends with vodafail problem as well and everyone is happy after a week :)

  • Similar experience at first. Got BB on a $49 pm w/ $20 pm discount. Bill came as $49, emailed Voda and they said no promo existed - which implies am a Liar! So good thing OzB still had the link of the promo and I sent it. Called their customer service and they said all sorted.

On the next month's bill guess what, charged $39 instead of $29. Called up again blah blah blah. Took 3 months to sort out. If not for the 10% discount and free voda to voda calls I would have taken the issue further.

On top of the above, I had a very bad, as in bad, mobile broadband connection in my area. An atea that's 5 kms from the city.

Voda has taught me to be patient, which is a good thing I suppose :)

  • I had a similar experience with 3. But with a different contract though. iphone 4 on 2 year contract.
I broke off the contract a month earlier and they charged me for 2 months! And I got the phone delivered only 2 months into the contract (i was already a 3 customer).

Not to mention their network was not reliable at all.

I've now gone with TPG and im spending lot less and the coverage is much better.

  • pennytel for data sims, amaysim, Virgin or TPG for normal calls.

Telstra is the 'bees knees' at the moment, but their track record scares me. and thir own frequency means carrier hopping isnt going to happen with your handset if you DONT like their service.

plus we're OzB's why pay the premiums :P
