Is it just me or are chargers getting really expensive? $100+ for a 3 port charger seems like a lot of money.

      You're paying for the 120W

      • How often do you need 120W, if at all though? I could only think of gaming laptops with discrete graphics cards but I imagine they are most likely charged with the included chargers.

The main use of 100W+ Chargers are usually for laptops.

but I imagine they are most likely charged with the included chargers.

The chargers that comes with laptops are usually bulky. The Anker GaN Charger would reduce the bulk + also be used to charge other devices (ie. phones) when travelling.

        • Not even close. My gaming laptop is 330W. Many midrange laptops might be in that ballpark however.

These are useful for work when on the go. My work laptop takes 90w and the rest goes to iPad and I can ditch the bigass laptop charger.

          • @ppt: I use a GaN charger for my work laptop too. And i charge my phones and ipad off the same charger. And I have a 65w powerbank for on the go.

My colleagues think I am a massive nerd. Meanwhile they all go looking to me because they always need power!

When travelling lots of people want to charge their laptop, tablet, and phone. With a 120W charger like this they can charge their 60W laptop and tablet at full speed and their phone at high speed. That's why there are three ports.

Thanks guys. It turned out to be useful in many use cases and more practical than I thought.

I would like to raise attention that it's 120W Shared!

In fact, it's 100W single device charger

Also to note, there will be a cap on each port when multiple devices are charged at once. So although it is 120W total and 100W for one device, it could be less than 100W when you have 2 devices charging or even less with 3. Ugreen chargers usually specify the max each port will provide when multiple devices are connected.

@NoradIII: The page linked above states if you use two or three ports, the combined total of C1 and C2 (and/or USB-A) is 120W. Sounds like you can draw e.g. 100W for your laptop from C1 and 20W for your phone from C2.
