Gaming Laptops, Rising in Price Generally?

Having been looking for new gaming laptop for a while, I've noticed, and this is very general, they were cheaper for the same specs months ago despite Black Friday and Boxing Day.

I bit the bullet, got a laptop with a 4050 GPU for $1197 (even though the exact same laptop was $1097 4 months ago). Now I see days later after I bought it, it is $1797 at the same place, officeworks.

My question I suppose, why are similar spec'd gaming laptops, in general, going up in price, and is this a trend likely to continue for a while?

"Gaming" is a marketing term, the manufacturers will exploit it to make the most $$, justifying it by inflation, increased transport costs, increased manufacturing costs, increased Nvidia costs (there is always a Nvidia tax), etc etc

You can buy better spec'ed standard machines for cheaper elsewhere (ie. Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 or Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, etc) ;)

    • The Z16 sucks for gaming and the Legion 5 Pro is a "gaming" laptop.

      • All laptops suck for gaming …. but if the manufacturers put a "gaming" tag on it, they can sell it for more ;)

No, they don't. It's just that desktops are better for gaming.

Laptop and gaming dont belong in the same sentence

Gaming and Desktop however do and will be way cheaper and way better than any gaming laptop will ever hope to be

Be realistic with your gaming expectations, if you're playing them at home, why would you buy a gaming laptop

Gaming laptops are way to big and heavy to dual purpose as a school/uni/work laptop and gaming

I live between two homes, long story not relevant. So that's why. They can have their niche uses.

That's the normal price. Officeworks are constantly monitoring competitor prices so there prices fluctuate more than others.

There were a bunch of 4060's for well under $1500 a month ago.
