Titanic Project 401 Free Demonstration - Unreal Engine Revival of The Titanic

Moved to Forum: Original Link

We went to the Melbourne Museum artefact exhibition which was worthwhile but came at a cost.

There is a FREE digital experience that is more immersive - Titanic Project 401. Journey back in time aboard the legendary RMS Titanic just as she appeared on her maiden - and only - voyage. From the lavish balustrades of the Grand Staircase to the coal dusted air of the boiler rooms, Titanic is yours to explore and her many stories are yours to uncover.

Well optimised so you only need a DirectX 12 graphics card with 8gb VRAM to enjoy this.

Wonder if this works with the new Unreal Engine injector for VR…

    • Came here for this

  • I find most "experiences" in Australia to be not worth the money compared to other countries equivalents, how was the museum cost vs value le?

    • +14

Have you been to museums here at all? I visited many in Canberra, most are free - how is that not a value for money? Same Sydney, many free ones.

Given "museum" is an institution founded to preserve and display history and culture of a given nation, Australian museums punch way above their league - given our modern, written history is very young, only about ~240 years old (and absolutely no disrespect intended towards Indigenous Australians, unfortunately they didn't preserve it a form like it was done in many other cultures around the world), the museums we have are absolutely fantastic and worth your time.

Just tried this with UE VR injector mod and it works ! Demo video I recorded in the First Class section - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0D5Vw0MoqYA
Only thing is left stick movement is based on assumption you use right stick to rotate camera so if you look around in VR, it changes your forward movement direction. Might be able to be changed in UE VR config setting.

    Needs more seamen

  • 8gb gpu to run a demo. Damn that's steep.

    • Well it's basically irrelevant if it's the demo or not in the case of it needing 8GB VRAM.

    • The days of 8GB being enough when the texture sizes are ballooning (for 4k) are over. Even 12GB is probably not going to cut it in a few years, which is where the 16GB is coming in as a default - and why fast streaming from SSDs is going to be the norm.

Doncha just love the smell of progress in the morning.

45GB of free disk space required. Make sure that your SSD has enough space.

Is there a DiCaprio and Winslet mod? Just kidding! I'd rather lick asbestos off the boilers.

  • I want a map of Chernobyl reactor 4 in it's current state.

    • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games get pretty close. Plus you get to blow stuff up!

  • How is Clive Palmer getting on with the building of the Titanic replica?
