Has good reviews, and seems to be the chinese version with stronger wifi.
The big plus for me is the 2.5g WAN and 4 x 2.5g ethernet that only comes with much more expensive routers

My new motherboard has a 2.5g port and hopefully the fixed wireless nbn promises of 250 future speeds are real. Also my home built NAS can be upgraded to 2.5g, so can use some for the SSD speeds.

Yes there are concerns about Xiaomi and data security, but with my kids watching 1000s of hours of tictoc and other misc dodgy apps I'm not too worried about extra data sniffing.

Has Openwrt firmware potential in future but could be years away, so dont buy this expecting custom firmware just yet.
I havnt got mine yet but appears to have a phone based app interface to change settings.

This seller does not offer a AU power plug(comes with eu ), so also get a basic travel adaptor.

Specs(c&p):
Built on the Qualcomm Networking Pro 820 platform
Quad-core A73 1.5GHz processor with up to 28800 DMIPS
4 x 2.5G ports and 1 USB 3.0 port.
Supports quad-band and 8-way data stream connections
A peak transmission bandwidth of 13.7 GB/s is supported, along with Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 4, and 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequencies.

Pretty comparable in specs, but you get OpenWRT support with the Flint 2 (both standard OpenWRT and their own fork).

The Xiaomi appears to support newer Wifi standards, although I'm not sure how compatible a China model would be in Australia with 6E and 7.

      • Thanks for your reasoning!

Pretty hard to find reviews on these! If anyone has found them, please share!

  • Quad band sounds like a misleading description

A couple things to note here:

    • While this is a tri-radio device, it's 2.4G + 5G + 5G. 6ghz spectrum isn't approved for use in China, so you won't find cheap 6ghz access points quite yet. (Ignoring HK at this point, which has separate approvals process and actually has 6ghz approval at this time)
    • MLO (Multi-link operation) is a large part of WiFi 7.
    • MLO does not work in Windows yet outside of pre-release builds
    • MLO on this device will be cursed if you use an Intel BE200 for a client. BE200 does not have MLO capable drivers yet, and the hardware isn't reported to be capable of 5G+5G operation?
    • It took like 2 years for the last generation Qualcomm hardware (ie. IPQ807x) to work vaguely nicely on OpenWrt, god knows how long until you see this chipset get support. (If anyone even bothers)
  • +1

Anyone use this with virtual desktop (quest 3)?

  • Does it come with an AUS plug?

    • @MangoUbe according to the description, "This seller does not offer a AU power plug(comes with eu ), so also get a basic travel adaptor".

    • No. Eu adapter.

    From a review:

Wi-Fi, I recommend, shvidkist virosla vdichy, vtrichy, buv tariff 100 MB. And wirys will share a photo, who should be able to criticize the district, then get it, catch it in my yard in the cellar, in my yard, in the middle of the city, in the well-being, in the well-being, having added the signal mode (energozkerezhennya mode). I recommend it.

Shvidkist virosla for a child, it's a bit, and when you try to wiggle with your head on a bully buddy, ale shvidkisi WiFi will be in 2/3 kimnatah, Dali 2.4 ggrz. Ale and 2.4 to catch in a concrete cellar with melalevoy, I recommend.

    I think he likes it…?

    • The guy pretty much wrote his life story. Wouldn't be surprised if he wrote it all in English but after going though several Chinese servers this was what was posted…haha :d

You can see 2022 or older (cant recall) reviews on which only say wifi 6. Anyone can confirm wifi6e and 7 support for this router?

Nothing in list description about wifi 6e 7 and quad band support

    • I read somewhere that wifi 7 is "coming" on this device.
      Sounds like a firmware update.

    • Can't see 6e

      • Apparently the network soc from Qualcomm supports Wifi 7 (networking pro 820) - says quad band as well in its specs

  • +1

This one does not support 6Ghz

    • Noob question, is it possible to have wifi 7 without tapping into all 3 ranges 2.4 5 and 6?

  • Updated firmware already available with the following note

Xiaomi router BE7000 stable version 1.1.7 (updated on November 28, 2023)

I have the Chinese version AX6000, Chinese versions are the highest powered WiFi version at 1000Mw (MILLIWAT) and as far as I'm aware Australian standards is max 200Mw.
the firmware is in Chinese but you just translate the Webpage to English so no problem. In WiFi power settings you set it to, through the walls (yes that is what it says). I have a single story 5bed house on 700m2 block and the WiFi is absolutely perfect with the one router.
I'm on FTTP and the router has never dropped out and in 9 months I haven't needed to reboot the router. Best WiFi router I've ever owned.
Don’t buy the global version and to be honest AX6000 at around $130 is enough, I probably wouldn't bother with the AC7000.

    • And the CCP data packet harvesting thing is BS. Cisco CCNP.

      • LoL….. Cisco CCIE.

      • +2

EVERYTHING the western agencies accuse Huawei and China of doing we are already doing. They don't want incompatible Chinese hardware on our networks

        • +2

its more of the CCNP that made me laugh.

    • Chinese versions are the highest powered WiFi version at 1000Mw (MILLIWAT) and as far as I'm aware Australian standards is max 200Mw.

I remember that the CN limits are almost all across the board lower than the AU ones.

      https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sforshee/wir…

As you can see, the CN limits are all pretty low compared to AU.

I don't buy the Global versions anyway as I don't typically use their firmware, and I'm a doubtful they have Australia to select anyway. (It wasn't there the last time I checked their software)

  • Why would you buy this when the 14000 is just around the corner?

  • Is this worth an upgrade from two AX6000 for 1000/50 FTTP?

    • Depends on the devices. If you don't have 6e or 7 yet, hold on to on it for another 6-12 months

  • +2

I made the switch to a mini pc with Proxmox and pfSense (plus Home Assistant and a Docker VM) a little while ago (FTTP so I'm lucky). It's plugged into my 24 port switch. WiFi is provided by my Linksys Velops.

    It's a pretty solid setup.

    • Are you using any Xiaomi project in your setup?

  • +1

Has previous xiaomi router been able to get 6ghz frequency on updating to international firmware? Or is it just physically missing a 6ghz radio?

    • +1

      Not really.

The exception to this was the Mi Router 10000, which while it physically had a QCN6274 capable of 6ghz band, they paired it with a FEM that wasn't able to go up that high. (There was no need, given 6ghz is still not approved for use there)

They would have had to choose different parts or add extra FEM and change the board design to do it. (I can't recall if there's an integrated WiFi 7 5-7ghz FEM even available at this time, thus the extra circuitry)

      • Yep, I looks like the BE7000 is not capable of 6Ghz from a hardware level, combined with the fact that the 6Ghz channel is not legal in China at the moment. That said it looks like Xiaomi may support a version of Wi-Fi 7 "with Chinese characteristics" with their Qualcomm chips that leverage the potential of MLO to achieve up to 240MHz bandwidth combining 2.4Ghz + 5Ghz bands, or 5Ghz + 5Ghz bands. MLO or Multi Link Operation allows a device to use more than one frequency band at a time.
A good source of info is available here:
        https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/wifi-7-routers.69…

        • The problem being that the only things I've seen with 5ghz+5ghz MLO tested at the moment are Qualcomm chipset phones.

Desktop/laptop support is a bit of a mess at the moment as a release version support for Windows isn't really slated until at least April in a release build. (And none of their widely available hardware will do 5ghz + 5ghz anyway)

          • @Namidairo: Quite interesting at the moment. It looks like Intel, Qualcomm and Mediatek all have the chips in the field. Regulatory approval and software seems to holding things back

  • hey lads. found another shop on Aliexpress AUD$202.86 + AUD$9.68 shipping, total = AUD $212.54, massive AUD$5 saving LOLl~~~~ !!! Hope they are the same model.

  • Bit of a network noob; but this would be fine to upgrade from my old Orbi setup? Also does Xiaomi offer an point to point access points? want to share a connection about 100m away. Thanks

  • For comparison, whats the best non-xiaomi alternative to this?

If like me the 2.5g ports are important, the tp link be550 at $550 plus post was in my shopping list.
      https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-networking/wifi-router/arche….
Altho when I enquired, it was new and had no AU stock.

The Mercusys MR47BE looks interesting. It is a brand from TP-LINK and sold in Australia. One to keep an eye on. Going for $399.:

      https://www.mercusys.com/en/product/details/mr47be/

Could be crap, could be great.

      • I couldn't find a single mention of the cpu this thing rocks. Probably lacking grunt

        • the Tp Link BE550 has Qualcomm's 620, i reckon this one has too, given same specs.

  • Got a xiaomi AX6000 a few years back, still going super strong that I don't feel like an upgrade is needed in the next few years….

  • US$137.57 with coupon AENYA10

  • For anyone who purchased this router, how is the performance so far?

    • +1

Amazing, got one for my place which covers the whole place and Wifi reaches 100m down the road, My PC connects at 2100 megabit through 2 walls and has been very stable so far.

After that i got 2 for my brothers hobby farm, connected the main one to the starlink in the living room of his double brick house, put the second one as a mesh 100meters away in a farm shed (which was slightly out of LOS down a 20 degree hill) where my phone was out of range but this one could reach and then work as an access point( around 20 megabit on speedtest down from 300 in the main house) for the next building another 90 meters away (which i've ordered a third for). I expect speeds to improve a lot if we can get the main router in a better spot in LOS of the farm shed.

Extremely easy to set up, Just use the same SSID and password as your old router so all your devices connect. Only strange thing was UPNP is off by default, so go in and turn that back on.
