Lytworx 1200 LED 60m Length Multi-colour Low Voltage Fairy Lights $35 + Delivery ($0 with Onepass/C&C/in-Store) @ Bunnings

300

To go with the bizarrely popular LED palm tree, Bunnings have 1200 LED, 60m multi-colour string lights for $35 if you're already thinking ahead to next Christmas. This is twice the usual bulb density for longer string lights, and they also claim to have a memory hold controller meaning that they can be used properly with a timer. The multi-colour variety was the only one that would let me select delivery and was available click-and-collect in a store local to me. Warm white and White are also listed at the same price but there may only be limited in-store stock.

Low voltage and solar Lytworx 250 LED strings in white, warm white, and multi-colour are also down to $7 with varying availability.

    terrible reviews lol

Seems the complaints are largely based around struggling to unroll them out of the box.

  • Does low voltage also suggest that they don't get very bright or just that they're very energy efficient LEDs?

    • Industry standard terminology for all of these type of plug-in LED lights since the controller steps down the voltage.

    • +1

It just differentiates solar lights and 240v lights. The plug drops them down to the ‘low voltage’ they refer to, but it is still fed by 240v mains power.

Picked up loads of lights on clearance for next year, do I need these… hrmmmmm….

      • The thing that makes these useful to me is the bulb density which matches some of the shorter string lights (i.e. 250 LED, 12.5m). I fold my existing 60m string lights back on themselves because they only have 600 LEDs and are too dim when strung out at their full length.

Untangling string lights should be part of a standard IQ test, lol.

Have some respect dude. Didn't you see his username? It's going to be a tough slog.

The weird thing about Bunnings suddenly dropping these prices is I went to my local a week ago and there weren’t any Christmas lights anywhere to be found. I figured they must’ve just sold out. Then today they’ve got stock of all these marked down.

The Reject Shop had better specials on shorter string lights post-Christmas than the $7 ones in the description here, but since they don't have a functioing ecommerce website it's impossible to confirm pricing consistency between stores.

    • Grrr. Just got a message from my local who assured me that they indeed do not have stock. I'd ordered click and collect (and had paid for it) and they might be able to transfer it to another store though I'm not holding my breath…

  • does anyone have experience with these? seems everyone is complaining about them getting tangled!

    • It's inevitable. You need to buy something to wrap them around otherwise you'll get them tangled into the box and then you're screwed.

I have used these the last two years, out if the box they were a little painful to unwind, but I wound them on one of these and it was easy to deal with.

  • 100m / 1000 LEDs for $53.99 @ Catch in case anyone needs a really long string of LEDs.

Also, thanks OP, grabbed some…my local store went out of stock just as I was about to purchase, so clearly they're starting to move!

  • Order cancelled for solar lights. No stock.

  • I've used these for 2 seasons - obvouisly really annoying if you tangle them - but really happy with how they've lasted (so far) heaps better than solar - and half price than the usual!!!

    • hello! are they bright?

      • +1

Yeah they are. I'm super happy I bought another two for next year

  • does anyone know which of the two white ones would be brightest ?

    • +1

White will appear the brightest because it is a harsher light. I've never seen lumens quoted for string lights. Generally you go by bulbs per metre, assuming the controller has a sufficient wattage for tge number of bulbs.

  • Thx Op , finally bargains for Christmas in 2024.

  • For Canberra northsiders: I saw a swag of these in Bunnings Gungahlin this morning, even though the website says out of stock there. Price tag still says $69 but they're scanning at $35.

Based on the reviews I had fully expected to have a bit of battle when first unravelling these, but in reality they were wound about as well as any other set of string lights I have. If you get a good grip of the roll, carefully remove the twist ties, and then unroll it slowly it should come out fine. I can however see it being very easy to try to unroll it too quickly or lose grip of the roll and drop it which could leave you in world of hurt. In fact I managed to drop the roll in the last ten metres or so and had to spend a couple of minutes untangling that section.

FYI these lights come with a 12W controller which would be sufficient to use to drive a whole bunch of multiple smaller string lights using connectors such as these

  • Went to pick some up but staff could not find them so gave me 3 x 500 light sets at same price 👍

  • I want to put them on the fence so they will be exposed to outdoor sun and rain. How's the water and weatherproof rating on these, pls advise.

    • +2

@sixsense Sorry, I only just saw your question by chance. I have had some warm white string lights of various brands (including Lytworx) mounted outdoors permanently outside in both exposed and non-exposed positions for over a year now. The ones exposed to sunlight have faded slightly (I mean the colour of the dark green cable, not the light output), and have been through lots of rain and a few storms in that time. I can't see an IP rating but these types of lights are rated for outdoor use. You just need to keep the transformer dry where it plugs into the power outlet.

      • Thx mate
