Been to two Woolies (Metro) and Coles (local).
Neither have had physical gift cards for their brands in the store.
Have I picked rotten apples, or is this no longer a thing?

obvs enough to not ask them

Not obvious sadly, many forum posts haven't had any research done prior to posting.
To confirm, staff have told you they don't sell them?
I think it's unlikely they'd stop selling them. It may be worth calling a full sized supermarket and asking them.
This is a tough one - give us another clue

I'd expect they are just low on stock as they are a Popular Christmas Gift or stocking filler.
I just walked out of a Coles supermarket, and they were selling Coles gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards (although stock on the shelf was looking lower than usual).
Two Woolworths stores I went to yesterday were selling WISH gift cards, Woolworths Supermarket gift cards, Essentials gift cards, etc etc.
In the past, all the Woolworths Metros I have been to sell WISH gift cards and Woolworths Supermarket gift cards, although some Woolworths Metros sell a very limited range of gift cards.
I find it curious that you mention Coles (Express). Are you saying you went to a Coles Supermarket and a Coles Express service stations, or just two Coles Express service stations? Coles Express is no longer owned/operated by Coles Group and is being rebranded to Reddy Express (and maybe also OTR, depending on regulatory approval). I do not visit Coles Express service stations frequently, but on my last visit, the only gift card type from Coles Group on sale there was Coles Group & Myer gift cards (but no Coles Express gift cards).
The Viva (Shell)/Coles Express acquisition was recently approved in Mid December.
Reddy Express and OTR will operate alongside each other. My guess, the smaller stores = Reddy Express, the medium/larger stores = OTR. Reddy Express being the (non-24 hr) sites.
25 Shell Coles Express stores across Adelaide will be sold to Chevron (Caltex) as part of the deal, as well as Viva (Shell) picking up 13 Chevron sites across Queensland, NSW and Victoria

Sounds like he’s looking for them in petrol stations. In that case I know the Woolies (metro/EG) don’t sell Woolies or Wish gift cards anymore, at least for the ones I’ve been to
Why not just look for them in the actual supermarkets?
@bargain huntress
Yes?
Giftcard availability poll?
Does anyone know if you can purchase physical visa mastercard gift cards in person anywhere? For Cash?
Did you ask anyone in store?
You could also buy online and print.
