What's so hard??
Pelago: 21% Cashback (Cap $50) + [Westpac] 15% Bonus Cashback (Cap $30) ??
YeahSo first you look at normal cashback price if GST Was INCLUDED in cashback.
If looking for max $30 cap for Westpac then
$30 / (15/100) = $200, confirm u did not stuff up by doing $200 * (15/100) = $30
$200If looking for max $50 cap at 21%, then
$50 / (21/100) = $239.10 (after rounding ), again confirm by $239.10 * (21/100) = $50
$239.10Check if GST is INCLUDED OR EXCLUDED from cashback. If included then price above remains same,
If excluded then price changes (gets worse for you)
Westpac,max $ amount was $200, so $200* (100/100 + 10/100) = $200 * (110/100) = $220, confirm by $220/1.1 = $200
Standard normal maximum one was $239.10, so $239.10 * (100/100 + 10/100) = 239.10 * 1.1 = $263.01, confirm by $263.01/1.1 = $239.10.Then you look at how much you want to spend.
If you spend $239.10 ( and you get cashback on gst bit too, or shall i say NO GST is dedicated from cashback) then you get $30 + $50 ( $80 back ) if you meet both criteria.
If GST WAS DEDUCTED (not included in cashback), then that $239.10 because $263.01 ( and you get $80 back) if u meet both criteriaif you spend $200 and GST WAS NOT DEDUCTED (gst is included in cashback) then, you get $30 + (21/100 * $200) = $30 + $42 = $72 back
If GST WAS DEDUCTED ( not included in cashback) then, you same $72 back but you spent $263.01 this time instead of $200 before to max out the lowest cap. Finally you decide your max BUY BUDGET accordingly to your needs and if GST is included or excluded by store in cashback.
Tip you do number/100 because that is a % (which is out of a 100)
You do number/100 + 10/100 because assuming gst is 10% so need to price by 10% or 1.1Btw i didn't neg you
So helpful, good on ya… but you certainly didnt make it look easy.
Can you make it look easy then? He/she/they did well in my view covering the different scenarios.
Ok. Which westpac cards qualify for these offers please? Thanks
RTFM
I'm assuming any Westpac card, that you've linked it to your ShopBack account.
Last time there was a Pelago promo it didn't track. Submitted a claim but it got rejected. My experience with Pelago is mediocre at best
Also note that Pelago payments go via Singapore.. ended up with a nice $20 foreign transaction fee from my last purchase..
Was this with Westpac card? If so, that's a good reason not to pursue the deal.
I see 3%
Yes it was my Westpac rewards card and worked out at roughly 3%
They even have an faq basically saying tough s*** if you get charged
@roadeh: Thanks for letting us know
Gees pretty pathetic to offer cash back like this and then force people into a fee.
Any bargain, op?
Yes, Cashback 😀
I have a birthday offer for 20% off. I think I'll take that rather than chancing cashback followed by the long wait for $.
The one day i'm going to TokyoSea in February and they're not selling tickets that day, how annoying….
Well I decided to risk the cashback and it has come through no problem, we'll see about the 'fee'.
Yes Cashback already tracked for me too..
Cashback now down to 5%. Didn't realise this was going to end so soon :(
Great deal picked up a few regional rail passes for my Japan trip - got about $250 in cashback tracked across 4 orders. From what was marginal benefit before now has swung in my favour.
Made sure I used the app and screenshotted the final screen to show I was still in the app when it was ordered
Can someone do the maths? I'm horrible at maths
