This is great to top up your account balance if you are short of a few points before you hit your next $10 off reward. 1000 points = $10 off. So for example, if you have 800 points in your account currently, you can buy a $20 gift card which will give you 200 points and then let you redeem your $10 off reward + $20 balance of credit in your account to use on your next purchase.

  Isn't 10 points per $1 spent the normal amount received when using the app for food and drinks? Only difference is you are buying credit instead

      Not if you use it in the way sugggested in the original post, to top up to the nearest 1000 points for something you were going to buy anyway. The Pass regularly run promotions like birthday credit, referral bonuses, during World Cup events, certain Friday’s etc so it is handy to be able to do this.
