  • Great deal thanks op! Love these TV backlighting as you don’t need the silly clip on sensor like the other cheaper ones

    • +11

You do need the hue box that is silly expensive though if you don't have a Philips tv

      • Picked up a used one on gumtree

        • +1

          How much did you pay?

      • +3

Philips also made a sync app for Samsung TV’s

The Hue Sync TV app is available on almost all 2022 or newer 60 Hz and 120 Hz
        Samsung TVs.

        • +1

yeah but don't forget the $200 to unlock the app

      • +4

You can use the app on an android box or windows PC. I use NVIDIA Shield.

      • The sync box doesn’t works with smart tvs, you will have to plug-in external device(Apple tv/xbox/etc) for makes your cinema RGB,

        • +4

If you’re serious about home theatre/AV setup tho you’re likely not using a smart tv interface in the first place. ATV 4K or Shield Pro is the way to go

      • Thanks for this info…

I was interested, but not anymore

Hue sync app on Android and Samsung tvs

  • Will these work with the 85inch Samsung tv that’s on sale now?

    • +1

They are lights, you can put them on anything. I'd say 2 isn't enough for an 85 inch though. I have a 65 inch with 3 on the bottom horizontally on a cabinet, and 2 light strips behind the TV and it still isn't overpoweringly bright even at 100%. Get 2x packs for 4 total minimum or just get light strips.

      • Thanks for this, I was considering buying for my 77" TV but less keen on buying 2 x 2-packs.

Does anyone else have a view on how many lights are necessary for a good immersive effect?

  • +4

Man I love the Phillips hue concept but even at this cheaper price, I find it too expensive for me. I wish I had money to burn cause I would like to fit my entire house with their bulbs.

    • +9

I tried going the cheap path, I wish I could have just bought hue stuff and spent twice the amount but spend 10's of less hours repairing/troubleshooting issues

    • -1

You can get the (Nue) hue compatible downlights

    • +4

I've just done it gradually throughout my place buying whenever there's a sale. There are enough sales every year that you pretty much never have to pay full price as long as you're a little patient but yes even still it isn't cheap.

      • +1

This. Have gradually built up a collection from sales found on ozb over the years and finally have enough for the main areas of the house now. It took time, but well worth the wait to save on cost.

  • The MediaLight Flex Mk2 series bias lighting kit is the superior product that’s actually isf certified… I bought the 5m kit for $125 in November, which fit perfectly behind my 77” Sony a95L OLED. All I want is 6500K white light, I’m not interested in having all sorts of different colours shine out from behind my TV like a Christmas light display, that’s not the purpose of bias lighting and does the opposite of what bias lighting is supposed to do, it degrades the picture quality.

    • All I want is 6500K white light

Then you're in the wrong deal thread, this device is for reactive lighting.

that’s not the purpose of bias lighting

Obviously, this device is not bias lighting.
