If you've been considering iO7 or iO8, this is a good price for iO8 and a better buy than iO7 available elsewhere for the same price.

For the non price-sensitive, JB H-Fi is doing $689
buyer: JB, can you pricematch store X selling it for $680 ?
JB: sorry its below our cost price! That is tempting, the JB listing calls it 'Alabaster White', which just sounds $400 classier.
Damn $689 for a toothbrush
It's only marketing BS. How different can this be from the $30 OralB electrics?
I mean…
pressure sensor
Interactive display
different brushing modes
app support with…AISeems pretty different to me but whether its worth it is another matter.
pressure senso
Why brush so hard… trying to KO your teeth?
@PuppieWayne: For me I thought I was just cleaning my teeth until my new dentist told me I was going too hard. On the flip side one of my family members realised she was brushing too lightly which the pressure sensor has now corrected.
Another couple of pros is that this toothbrush is quiet and has fast charge
pressure sensor
My $30 toothbrush has the pressure sensor. The sensor is not sensitive enough to be actually useful. And it's not really a "sensor", it's just a circuit thing that turns on a light when the handle is angled to a degree. Think of it like an electric connection that you make by pushing the tip a little bit. No smart stuff is happening here.
Interactive display
And what's the benefit of this? Is it really useful?
different brushing modes
Meaningless!

Come on!!
@DontNeedThis: Your comments are, āwhatās the benefitā, āmeaninglessā and ācome onā you certainly can have your opinion, and yes most of it is marketing but is performance too. I mean dyson v7 vacuums but is it the same as v15?
I donāt have this toothbrush but reviews are pretty good and I too recently realised I was brushing too hardā¦ so was happy to spend a bit more and bought the recent Amazon deal and am quite happy with it.@DontNeedThis: The pressure sensor in these are a lot better than the $30 toothbrushs. It is a lot more sensitive and tells you if you are brushing too lightly as well. How can you compare the pressure sensor in a $200 toothbrush to a $30 toy and assume it'll be the same tech? lol
These also uses a different brushing tech with both vibrating and spinning motion which I feel cleans the teeth alot better compared to the older models.
All the other extras are just quality of life things. It makes it more convenient/ easier to use and is nice to have. Just difficult to quantify the value of these things. I still think its overpriced compared to a 6000 / 8000 / 8500 series for $$70-80 on sale. Especially if you take into account a single brush head for the newer models costs $10 on sale and $20 RRP.
Even if you ignore the flashiest and fanciest features, the mid-range models have faster motors (higher oscillations) and 3D cleaning (pulsations) which result in better cleaning performance, 4x30 second timers, pressure sensors to discourage excessively hard brushing, and Li-ion vs NiMH batteries. These are significant upgrades to the $30 models.
We bought the io7 on Black Friday. It works pretty well, the first time ever that whitening toothpaste has ever worked. Also gums seem a lot less inflamed in places where I used to have that problem.
Philips Sonicare are way better
Transfered from sonic care to IO7, for me this works considerably better.
There seems to be a big mark up with these models as the price can fluctuation a lot. If this was in black I might purchase, otherwise will wait for the 9/10 to drop a bit…
I too am watching iO9 prices as I'd love to have the 16 zone teeth tracking.
The wirecutter recommendsā¦ā¦ the Oral-B Pro 1000 š
They tried only an iO9 at CES in 2020 and rate it too expensive. As everyone here is shopping for mark-downs we can source iO3/4/5/6 at acceptable pricing.
It was $165.35 on black Friday…
This was with ebay plus codes?
Can confirm this is good. Iām using the io9 and want to get some brush heads but they donāt seem to go on sale often. Thanks for sharing op!
I prefer the Gentle Care heads and typically get them from Myer when marked down, now at $25.56. Lowest price for Ultimate Clean was $15.75 via Amazon but $19.52 subscribe & save isn't too awful.
This is the reason i will not upgrade yet from genius 9000. I can get brush heads for way less than $5/head.
If you're game there are non-genuine heads for iO https://www.amazon.com.au/Replacement-Compatible-Electric-Toā¦
Yeah nah
$196.68 delivered from their ebay store with Studentbeans
I have the io6 from BF - was below $150 with a cashback special. Main difference between that and higher models like this is the 6 takes longer to recharge, and its charging stand is the typical Oral B Male-female format. Higher models also have a "hockey puck" charger that's easier to clean and also charges faster. The 7 has a colour screen too.
Having used the original Oral B Power/Vitality type for years, can confirm that the iO series feels very different - much more of a gentle buzz than a super fast vibrate, if that makes sense. Feels more gentle.
As for the smart features, I tried it a couple of times before getting sick of pulling out my phone and opening the app.
I've got the iO7 - it doesn't have a colour screen and has the same 5 modes as the iO6. The only difference being the charger. While the magnetic charger seems like a good idea (it charges fast like you said), it's so easy to knock the toothbrush off. The magnet isn't very strong at all, and even the toothbrush on its own barely stands up… it's almost like they want it to break.
The iO8 onwards have colour screens (the iO8 adding the super sensitive mode as well).
It is a lot quieter, softer and does give a better clean than the Genius 9000 and X series.
As others have said, it's a pity the iO8 isn't available in Black in Australia - and even the iO10 has a horrible speckled design that will make you think you've got bits of toothpaste on the handle and try scratching them off lol
"2 minute timer split into 30 second quadrants gives you ample time to consider all 4 reasons you got so bored with life you spent $600 on a toothbrush"
Can't believe im seeing a $200 toothbrush on a bargains website, i guess we are in Australia paying Western pricing, but still, my ass isn't that loose to buy one of these, even if it does have touch screen OLED display, Bluetooth connectivity to my smart watch and wifi connection so it can order me new toothpaste when it detects im using less and less toothpaste
Io series brushes get mouldy in the badly designed heads and connector… My example also has a bad battery that don't last long. Do not recommend.
Sonicare eventually will stop working due to design flaw. Also do not recommend.
Stick with the older oral b imho…
My iO6 sometimes runs out of charge unexpectedly but a reboot fixes it. I live in a humid climate and don't see the mould issue but I do replace the heads as recommended.
There's alot of mould in the handle.. U just can't see it. But if you clean within the handle tip and inside so much gunk comes out
Btw. How do you reboot?
Via Oral B: You can reset the handle by holding the on/off button for 10 seconds. All the lights should do a double-blink simultaneously to let you know that you've successfully reset your handle.
All you need to do is take off the brush head and wipe the part underneath maybe once or twice a week and let it dry overnight.
I have a Sonicare and Oral B and thats all I have to do in many years.
I had that pile of mush (toothpaste, and other mouth nasties) on my Genius 9000 charger almost daily - after 4 years of use, it actually ate away at the plastic on the charger, so no matter how much I cleaned it, there's what looks like a burnt brown ring on the white charging base lol
I now know to take the toothbrush head off after each clean, rinsing it under the tap and letting it dry overnight before reattaching it.
I recently bought an iO7, and they seem to have the same dumb holes in the brush heads, plus the handle section where the brush attaches has a plastic thing surrounding the magnet inside which is another dumb design decision - as that's guaranteed to fill up with gunk if you don't remove and rinse both the brush and top of the handle after each use.
Despite their design flaws, they're still great brushes.
Been using iO9 since BF coming from a Genius 9000. Overall its a good brush but I find the brush heads to be too oversized and I actually prefer the cross action brush head on the Genius 9000 better, the clean between the two is not huge you're just paying for all the extra features on the iO series.
Both iO and Genius will keep your teeth and gums healthy if you're following a good brushing routine.
Here's something for you guys… $60 off the purchase price of the iO6, iO7 or iO8 sold at Chemist Warehouse.
If you go to the Oral B website (oralb.com.au), there should be a splash screen with "Get $60 Off a Range of Oral-B Electric Toothbrushes"
Here's the direct link https://pgaustralia.jebbit.com/bz5kw8va?L=Full+Page&JC=popupAll you do is enter an email address and it gives you a barcode which takes $60 off the price. I haven't tried this myself, but hopefully it comes in handy for someone that wants to purchase a brush (it's for in-store use only).
Awesome tip thanks @Graffin, just picked one up for $146.69
Glad the $60 off worked. Was hesitant to post it as a deal without trying it myself.
Thanks for posting the original deal. It definitely makes the iO8 a lil more affordable. If only they had the black one!
I share a 3-person household so we use a combination of black/white handsets & heads plus a black iO6 with its white base. Pre iO we all used to have the same colour handset with the coloured rings as ID.
Did you do it in store or online? Just show them the barcode?
Scanned the barcode at POS
Picked one up for $60 off too. Bargain
I dont know how fancy this toothbrush is but >200 for just a tootbrush is š
