Is a Link to an Amazon Product Considered Affiliate/Spam?

This is the second time that I link a product to a discussion (we on Ozbargain talk about products and deals) but the comment gets automatically labeled as affiliated/spam and unpublished, am I doing anything wrong?

  • For Amazon, we are just looking for the tag query string keyword in the URL. If you copy and paste Amazon links from Google or other websites they might contain their affiliate ID.

Is there anyway to code ozbargain to auto parse a url to remove the parts? I currently find it a bit cumbersome on mobile to post Amazon and Ali express deals, often waiting to get to a desktop to post instead.

Our link checker handles many different affiliate links and referral links, however not all of them are able (or trivial) to be reverted back to non-affiliate links.

For Amazon, currently we are checking

        • tag or AssociateTag in query string

        For AliExpress, we are checking

        • aff_fcid or aff_trace_key in query string — those are usually result of redirect from s.click.aliexpress.com
        • I would hope that instead of dropping the affiliate ID, you're at least inserting OZB's own. Better to help fund this site than Jeff's next yacht.

i recall a dropdown menu to use a non affilate link when clicking through a deal

Ok now I understand, I don't remember if I was redirected to that Amazon page from another web site or if I did a research on Amazon but in my ignorance on this topic, I feel like absurd that a common day by day web surfing among product review web pages and marketplace platforms can create rules that ban the web links.

    • Does Google have their own Amazon affiliate tag? They must earn millions in commissions…
