The sarcasm was even marked. Point being, anything they may have once been, they are certainly no longer.

        • -3

Still a helluva lot better than Nintendo who continue to release awful consoles that are either so far behind the times by their release from a technological standpoint that it makes it pointless owning one or have gimmicks that are poorly thought out, usually both.

        • +3

I recently had to choose between the Nintendo 3DS XL and the PS Vita. The 3DS XL doesn't have the best build quality, though has a number of games that I enjoy. The PS Vita on the other hand had a far superior build quality, though I struggled to find a single game that I wanted to play on the platform. Guess which console I ended up purchasing?

        • The Wii has sold a greater amount than 360 and PS3. The DS sold more than the PSP.

They are trying new technologies which whether succeed or fail shows at least they are innovative.

  • Jesus, its hard to decide….one hand these are readily available on emulators, on other….these were …no …ARE the best classic Sega games period. Do you feel guilty pirating the best there was.

    • +4

Well I've already bought many of these on multiple platforms. I get tired of being sold the same product many times.

    • -1

alright…these games are emulated, these guys are making it off emulator bundle that's simplified for pc, the devs get nothing…

        So are they legal ?

        • no

it's about as legal as if i zipped up a bunch of roms with an emulator and sell it to you in a cd, not like Sega could be arsed to do anything anyway.

i cant believe i answered jv seriously

        • I had assumed they had a licensing deal. If not there is absolutely no point in 'buying' this and it should be removed.

        • +4

          Good points.

On another matter though - I don't get the anti-jv-ism that inhabits the OzB site.

jv's POV is relevant as anyone else.

I'm not having a go at you Balls - just highlighting a fact that seems reasonably proliferate across the comments. It seems to be tokenism as opposed to insightful.

I quite enjoy jv's thoughts. He is perhaps likely to say that this comment itself belongs in the forums!

        • +1

I'm pretty sure these are same as sold by steam and green man gaming ?

        • +1

What solid reason do you have to assume that these aren't licenced by Sega? Dotemu is a legit gaming store like GoG. There are already old publishers selling ROMS for MAME and the like, why assume this is illegal?

        • +2

What solid reason do you have to assume that these aren't licenced by Sega?

I don't have a reason, I'd just like to know if they are licenced by Sega.

If they're not, why should I pay for something not legal…

        • +1

They're a legitimate store and publisher, so why wouldn't they be? Dotemu has published a lot of the classic remakes of games on the iOS and Android stores that were legitimate. They sell classic games like GoG does and no one accuses them of piracy.

Are the Sega games on Steam illegal?

        • They're a legitimate store and publisher

Not everyone knows that, that's why I asked.

        • +1

I've purchased their apps off Google Play and they were legit. They were even being discussed on major gaming news sites when the Another World remake came out. No one doubted it then.

They have a whole section on their site trying to sell their service to right holders and discussing their business model. They talk about how modern emulation systems can create revenues from otherwise dormant IP and create an entry into the smartphone market.

Piracy sites don't bother trying to sell their services to publishers. Or create their own remakes that take whole teams of people to accomplish. What else do you need to believe it's legal?

Read away. Reselling existing emulated games for publishers is their business model. Nothing shady (unless you're willing to say that GoG and Steam are shady too).

        • i cant believe i answered jv seriously

Yeah. Me too! Balls to that, I say!

          :)

        • This is the same as the SEGA Mega Drive: Ultimate Collection for PC.

Well said! Unfortunately there is a lot of negativity and cynicism on this site (come with the tarritory?), so it's nice to hear someone jump in and stick up for a member. :)

        • In comparison to a place like the pirate bay the comments on this site are like a page from jane austen.

OzB has a great community and you're right wizzle - sometimes the territory is only the size of one's ego!

  • Funny how perception changes. When I had my Game Gear I thought the games look great.

  • I just cant bring myself to pay for an emulator no matter how good the deal seems

  • Fusion Emulator
    http://www.eidolons-inn.net/tiki-index.php?page=Kega

That above is an awesome Mega-Drive/Master System and Game Gear emulator available for free. It doesn't include games and I won't discuss ROMs.

If dotemu are sellings ROMs with no license deal, don't not give them money. At all.

    -Edit-

Looking into it, they seem like a legitimate website.

Games in bundle are some of the best for the console, the price is excellent and they seem legit. But did they make a deal with the developers/publishers/owners of these games?

  • No Sega Rally and Nascar :(

    • GAME OVER YEAAAAHHH!

  • Bought, thanks.

(dotEmu are the guys who did the official port of Another World to iPhone/Android, seems legit).

Does anyone known how to download them all at once? They seem to be separate downloads only, 15mb each (about 14mb of which must be the emulation software). I dread having to configure my SNES controller again for every game I play - maybe I'll have to just give up and download the ROMs elsewhere after all? At least I legitimately own them now…
