Ram Horn Aquarium Snail (Aquarium Cleaner) $1.50 Each + $3 Postage ($14 Express, $0 SYD C&C) @ Sydney Aquascapes

90

Ram horns are also down 25% for the next two weeks!
We also have Blue, Red and Pink variants but they are a little more expensive at $5 each.

These are tropical snails, so not good for out-door tanks unless you are in Syd/Central/North coast and preffer a temperature of around 20-28 Degrees. They are quite hardy otherwise and will help keep your aquarium clean.

FAQ:
People often inquire about snails exploding in population when introduced to a tank, but there is a bit of a misconception with this: Snails will propagate until they reach an equilibrium with the food available for them in the tank. If you add snails and their population explodes, it means there is tones of food (usually left over fish food) for them to eat, and they are eating it. In other words: Doing their job. Once the food is gone, their population will reduce to enough snails that can survive on how much food is left after your fish are done with it. If they still keep up a massive population, that usually means you are feeding your fish too much.

Postage:
Snails are very resilient to postage issues, so much so we can send them in letters and 99% of the time there is no issue. We do replace or refund fully if there are any issues with your order as well anyway.

  • After 1000s of ram horn snails I got a clown loach

    • They are great as well!

  • I've got a single large 400L established tank (overstocked) with primarily African Cichlids, but also 2 plecos and 3 clown loaches.
If I add the snail, will they just get eaten immediately? Or how can I ensure their survival given I only have the 1 tank (ie cannot breed separately).

    • They very well may be, unfortunately I can't give you a full proof solution, I keep nano tanks not larger ones. Only thing I'd suggest is to try it. Its $18 for 10 snails, if they dissapear then now you know.

Trumpets may be a better choice for you though, they are a bit hardier.

That should be for those who complete the survay and help me make the store better. If you use this please leave me some feedback on how I can improve the shop!

  • My last pair of ram horns died after 2 weeks. All thats left are empty shells. Sad as I got them paying retail. Replaced with trumpets instead from op's past deal and they are growing fine after 6 months. Not sure what happened but i can only say trumpets are hardier.

    • Could be because of a lack of food.

      • Could be…

The Shubunkins I have now are pretty hungry all the time, they do pick up the pebbles too so they do compete for food.

Haha so with snails I can afford to keep the tanks dirtier / change water less frequently/ over feed more?

        Thanks again for advice.

        • No, they dont lessen the bioload so no change to water changes, filter etc but they help eat leftover fish food and alegae off the walls and other plants.

  • My daughter got a fish tank earlier in the year ~20L with a few small fish. Can I get a couple of these and put them with a couple of your trumpet snails in the same tank?

    Will they be fine?

I’m in Central QLD, so temps are a bit higher - will postage still be okay?

We fully refund and replace any that don't survive. We often send to QLD with no issues so should be all good.
