Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4060 Eagle OC 8GB Graphics Card $465 + Delivery ($0 QLD C&C) + Surcharge @ Computer Alliance

560

Lowest price I've come across for one that isn't a cheap Windforce version.

1% surcharge for card & PayPal payments.

Yes, I know there is some debate about the performance of the 4060 but this is the best performing (brand new) card under $500 that I could find, happy to be proven wrong.

Enjoy!

I’m buying a gpu at this price but can’t go past a used 3070.

    • +2

Yeh I did consider this but power consumption + risk of getting an ex-mining card put me off.

      • +1

I buy quite a lot of used hardware and based on experience, ex-mining cards tend to be a lot cleaner and more well taken-care of. Obviously not all miners take care of their equipment, but most do as reselling the equipment is half the money in mining. On the other hand, 90% of the used cards i bought from personal use have always been caked in dust, with no original box, throttling very heavily.

        • always been caked in dust

          I feel personally attacked

      • +1

a card that has been ran undervolted, cooler and at a stable temp vs. one probably overclocked, constantly cycling from room temp to idle to high temp? give me the miner card. the extra hours used is nothing compared to the harsh temp cycle and higher power draw of the personal use gpu.

The comment sections aren't very positive to those used cards

Excellent find OP I am tempted however I’m just hanging out for the imminent announcement of the RTX 4070 Super in the (probably vain) hope that it brings down the prices of the regular RTX 4070 to around ~$600

    • +2

Yeh was trying to justify a 4070 but currently $900ish which is twice the price for perhaps 30% gain didn’t really make sense haha

It may drop to $650-$700ish but was more than I am budgeting for this upgrade.

    • You could have got this for $754 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816814 and prices seem to have increased since then :|

    • +1

Doubt it will bring down the price.

    • +1

      It wont

    8GB :-)

    • 128bit memory bus
      288GB/s
only good for 1080p gayming (-:

      • +1

Yeah i'm pretty sure 1080p gaming is what it was designed for. If you want 4K gaming get an RTX 4090.

        • a lot of great games are playable comfortably in 4k on 3070 here, thanks to DLSS

you'll probably say what about newest titles - well cheapest way to play them is Xbox Series X, and I also have one

but I know I had this argument before, each to their own.

      • 3 4060s make a 384-bit bus, maybe use them for a compact AI machine?

        • +1

          8GB enough for AI?

Unpopular opinion but Intel Arc A750 doesn't look too bad for $120 less. Also, intel drivers are getting better and better every release while the Nvidia drivers are pretty much as good as they are ever gonna get.

    • You need a newish motherboard with resizable BAR, otherwise performance of the Arc won't be fully realized…I'd have gone for an Arc if not for that.

      • +6

You need a newish motherboard for the 4060 or else you'll be running it at PCIE Gen 3 over 8 lanes

        • Is it ok with my Z590 Tomahawk? I'm holding for A770 deal.

          • @bcYield: Z590 has PCIE4 and ReBar from cursory Google search so should be fine. The first (and only) thread I looked at said you need motherboard running on UEFI mode though, no CSM.

But unless you have a particular reason not to, you should be running in UEFI anyhow.

It's worth pointing out I think, that NVIDIA and AMD cards also benefit from ReBar.

            • @jonathonsunshine: Thanks for the confirmation ahead. I had a quick look up the keyword "ReBar" saying it helps add a few fps. To me is not that much of difference because I don't play much CS games and heavy games.

I want to see what intel graphic cards can do more with AI thingy

    • Either way more competition is good, hope Intel succeeds no matter what you buy because it will mean cheaper prices for all.

  • It is weird that eBay does not have any discount coupon for the Unboxing Day

      • That help, Thanks
But it is even worse than 10% off.
Where is 17% or 22% off for plus members?

    • +1

I held off buying between black friday sales and boxing day because I was hoping that boxing day would be the same or better. Turns out I lost that bet and everything is up $100-$200. Just going to wait for the Super series cards now.

8gb of VRAM means this card will not age well - in fact, 8gb is already struggling for latest releases i.e. Last of Us, it doesn't get better from here. Would only consider it if I'm on a tight budget and not playing graphically intensive games.

    • +1

Dlss and just not run on ultra. They'll be fine. Vram matters less than you've been lead to believe for normal use cases. People buying a 4060 are not doing it instead of a 4090 out of choice lol.

    • Sub $500 it’s the best bang for buck. Next best thing would be a 4070 which is double the price or 4070ti which is almost triple the price of this card and you don’t get double/triple the performance.

For me, it’s a considerable upgrade from my gtx 1660 at a decent price and will cover me for 2-3 years until I probably need to get a new mobo + cpu at that point.

  • Re your comment on the cooler, at least on the previous generation the eagle was the lowest tier cooler

Anyway for 4060 the power usage is low so cooler isn't as important anyway

    • Yeah this and the windforce are both bottom tier coolers. But I doubt it matters. This takes up more room. Similar price on umart right now for the windforce which is a bit smaller.

    • Anyway for 4060 the power usage is low so cooler isn't as important anyway

      I know right?
back in the 1060 days you could cool a gpu like this with 1 fan and a piece of extruded aluminium.
or 2 fans and 1 heatpipe if you wanted to be fancy

  • The last deal of 4060 comes with 2 fans while this one comes with 3 for $10 more

    HODL for Super variants

    • Or if your mobo does PCIe bifurcation, HODL for variants with an M.2 slot so you can take some advantage of the 8 lanes left unused by a 4060.

      • GPU sales are slowing down, so the manufacturers are using late nomenclature to sell. I'll personally wait IMO. But YMMV

      • The varients are a 4070, 4070ti and 4080. Unlikely to effect the bottom end of town.

        • Going by past GPU's they made RTX2060S and that was equivalent to RTX2070.

          • @vinni9284: Yeah I know - but it isn't one of the 3 coming out soon.

  • +1

Got this last month since it's the only new card my Dell tower can handle with it's pissy power supply. Good upgrade from the 1660Ti for 1080 action for ray tracing with DLSS.

  • +2

    Afterpay avoids the surcharge.

  • PCPP AU says cheapest 6700xt right now is $490. ~10% faster in raster but no NV features. Pick your poison.

  • RTX 4070 is the minimum, forget 4060's

  • I personally ended up finding a 6700xt for $560ish a couple weeks back when comparing against these 60 series. It seemed to come out on top for price to performance. I did have trouble finding them though, sold out in many places. The 60's were more expensive at the time though, so maybe this price for the 60 is worth it ?

  • At least this gets frame gen
