Hello

Shovel square. I prefer a pointy shovel gets into dirt. But if you need a shovel pick one up made from all steel.

  • I have a strong feeling "Mozz" and "Paul" in the reviews section are either gay partners or the same person..

Possibly sharing the same construction license, and licensed in everything. "Skilled at all including waterproofing"

So they weren't just calling a spade a spade then?

after reading that review I wonder if I should wish I lived closer to Warnambool so I can go to the store there. But maybe the team were particularly friendly that one afternoon and I have a strong feeling I need to finish this with 4 exclamation marks!!!!

Colloquially a “spade” is this product (skimming gravel up off ground or moving sand etc) and a shovel is rounded for digging

    • LOL thank you!.. I have been calling everything a spade .. now I know the difference.. ^_^

i'd understood spade was for "digging", and shovel was for "moving". kinda fork vs spoon. I suppose there might be spovels in a similar way as sporks, but I doubt it

      • Yeah, they've got it backwards. Spade is for digging.

          No it’s not.

          Shovels are made for digging

            @J B S: Hi J B S I see that website and raise you two
            https://www.workshop.bunnings.com.au/t5/How-To/How-to-select…

            https://aussiegreenthumb.com/spade-vs-shovel/

scooped is a shovel, flat is a spade. (if the end of the blade sticks up when the tool is "on its back" on the ground it's a shovel)
You don't dig a hole in undisturbed ground with a shovel, the angles are all wrong. You can shift a pile of stuff with a spade, but a shovel is much more efficient because the scooped sides stop so much stuff falling off.

            • @AdModnar: Please look at this website it’s the shovel maker ‘cyclone’ Australia:

Particularly look at the post hole shovel it’s used for fence footings

A spade always had a d-shaped handle like the spades cyclone make and sold around Australia.

You don't dig a hole in undisturbed ground with a shovel

I could just imagine the laughs on job site when your trying to dig a hole in hard ground with a spade

              I agree to disagree lol

              • @J B S: Funny how you're all agreeing that a spade is a flat, sharp-edged tool and a shovel is a pointy, curved-edged tool. A spade is the opposite of what it looks like on the playing card suit, in any case.
