  • Looks pretty good, although the track looks pretty miniscule!

  • The site has exchange rate 1.6261362802? Doesn't it comes to ~122 ? I used 28deg to check.

    • -1

The exchange rate is what Google has calculated. Sites may vary ie. (PayPal) does not give the full currency rate.

These actually have more reliable arrival/departure times than Metlink.

The Chinese company, Enlighten, has produced compatible track that sells for approx 1/3rd the price of lego brand name. The cheapest I found was on Aliexpress (search for enlighten train).
It is of a good quality, almost equal to Lego, with the same designs, except in brown instead of grey.

    • Interesting, all the knock off lego I've seen in the past has been really poor quality but I guess they've stepped it up

      • Hasbro make knock off lego pieces under the Kree-o line and they are very high quality.

We bought some sets during Targets great big toy sale and you can hardly tell the difference if it weren't for a notch that they purposely put into each piece.

So are the enlighten stuff compatible with Lego (ie the bricks, etc work together)?

      • The track is 100% compatible.
The other sets vary slightly. They have some custom pieces that lego don't make, but it all fits pretty well.
The plastic is about 99.5% the same. It has the same feel but slightly different glossiness. The 'clutch' (how well the pieces grip) is very lego-like. The colours are not an exact match.
Note this is based on half a dozen boxes of track and 3 or 4 little single vehicle etc. kits my kids got from a market in Asia. One the whole, I am happy to toss the pieces in with the big box of lego, something I would never do with mega-blocks or the free soft building blocks McDonalds sometimes gives away with happy meals.

  • how much are these normally?

    • quick google search shows up to be around $145.00 without P/H althought Amazon US have it for $125 w/o p/h

    • I think the one from Germany is about $140 delivered and the last time I looked at this set in the UK it was about $140 delivered as well.

    • About $200 in Myer, $155 on eBay.AU

  • I have never bought off amazon

How do you guys estimate shipping cost?

    Where is the calculator?

How did you calculate GBP 19.30?

    Cheers

    • Proceed to checkout. On the right upper-hand side there Postage Amount in GBP.

This will be shown also with the item cost.

  • does it get delivered by train?

  • Call me old fashioned, but I don't see how $117 for a Lego train is a bargain?

    • Shrug. I wouldn't pay the extra for an SS v8, but it is about 40% off the RRP in Australia, and these sets are rarely discounted.

    • To the contrary, as a little kid in the 90s I wanted a Lego Train set very badly but they were very expensive (around the $300+ mark), had to make do with Tomy trains (which weren't bad, but as a hardcore brainwashed Lego fanatic from birth, it wasn't the same).

One day I will get one of these

  • FYI Lego is often restricted for delivery… not sure if anyone has actually purchased this, but I know from previous checking that everytime I have tried to ship to Aust they decline (US, UK & Fr version of Amazon). I recently had to send a Star Wars kit to distant relatives in the States, to then be forwarded on to me in Aust.

    • I received two of these sets last week as part of a larger order from Amazon UK.

    • most of the amazon sites I see have now got the "AmazonGlobal Eligible" option on the left pane.
Click on that and you'll see what can be shipped here.

  • That was quick, my order arrived today!
