You're thinking about the 1TB version..

    Shuckable?

    • I haven't had to shuck one of these yet, but my understanding is that they are.

    • No that's oysters :P

    Isn’t Toshiba bankrupted

    • +1

It appears they are being delisted/taken private.

  • thanks op!

  • Canvio not Canvioa - Amazon's fault not OP. (Unless Toshiba have changed their trademark).

Remember when Toshiba was the brand of choice for laptop computers.

    • I liked the z30. Get Dynabook

Yes along with the age of removable batteries.

    • Yes, and once upon a time they had those dodgy trackballs hanging off the side!

    Eww micro USB.

    • ?

      • Look at the connector. That connector (USB 3 micro-b) was used on about 3 things before USB-C became the standard. Now everything else has dropped micro-USB except for external hard drive makers who cling onto it for some reason.

        • +1

That's because all the manufacturers haven't changed their models in years. These are still the same ones from many years ago. The max has been 5tb for portable HDDs since around 400 B.C.

My 4TB has the larger USB, and my new laptop doesn't even have a port for it!

I have to buy like a different cable, annoying lol

    • +3

I assume you mean the PC end of the cable is USB-A? You can get USB-A to USB-C connectors really cheap. Here's one for $2.18 with free delivery, and that's without even looking far https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/354843713989

That's your laptop's fault, not the hard drive's fault.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.
Now 71% claimed so if you are interested don't wait.

The price has gone back up to $180. Could anyone else please suggest a well-priced 4tb hard drive?
