Live Connected shut down online store to improve customer service

Wow I've seen a lot of people recently bagging the customer service, saying that they had to Wait 10+ days to get minor problems fixed but to stop taking new customers this must really hurting there bottom line.

  • Well taking new customers mean expanding their growth and increasing their bottom line.
    Stopping new customers from joining means they just don't get more revenue than they do now. Doesn't mean they're losing money or anything just that their income is going to stay the same.

    • A lot of the telecommunications market is merely about presence. A small percentage of customer churn is pretty much guaranteed, so their customer base is extremely likely to be lowered by the end of this even though it is a short period of time.

    Vaya seems the way to go then(for new customers);
    Seems pretty competitive when compared against LC or TPG

      Actually I think Vaya wins out on the fact they charge 45c per 30 seconds instead of 90 cents per minute.

        True, But there is a $20 charge for a sim pack, and a $30 Disconnection Fee charge

        • Not really surprised about the sim pack, but the Disconnection Fee isn't great

        • IIRC LC charge $20 for the sim pack as well. But yeah that disconnection fee is a bummer.

        • But Porting out is free from Vaya.

        • Didnt charge me.

        LC vs Vaya

        • Vaya $1 Cheaper per Flexi Plans
        • Vaya has telephone support number
        • Vaya 4G plans (Coming Soon)
        • 30 second billing
        • Vaya doesn't charge to change plans downwards (and is currently working with the upwards one to so they are fee free to change)
        • Vaya offer Global Roaming
        • Vaya almost instant billing of data usage (Vaya is 15 mins behind, versus 48 hours)
        • Vaya ability to implement hard limit data barring when you reach your data limits (just in case) for the month
        • Vaya overspend on the Vaya to Vaya calls comes out of the other CAP inclusion for the month. (This is awesome. Live connected doesn’t do this and charges you on top of the monthly fee.)
        • Cheaper International Call Rates

        • Vaya active Rep on Whirlpool (That receives a +++ :) )

        ===============================================================

        • LC free voicemail deposit
        • LC to LC Usage is updated every 48 hours
        • LC cheaper MMS (50c vs 55c)
        • Better website with more information about plans and rates
        • +1

          You know what's cool about the Vaya rep, he's the Co-CEO

        • 15mins delay in billing data is a huge bonus.

          Avoid the massive data charges of $400/GB+ :)

    We will be bringing our store back online from November 1st, 2012. Our aim is to bring the store back online sooner, but not at the sacrifice of service.

    So it's down for a couple of weeks, if that.

  • I am looking at getting my mum and her partner onto LC or similar. Currently they're on a grandfathered $20/month 3 plan for 2 mobiles and end up with around a $30 bill each month for very light use. The $12/month LC plan x2 looks like an instant cost reduction and usability increase - are there any major considerations between LC and Amaysim or any of the others?

    • Online only support for LC.
      But if you're reasonably technical, I can't really think why you'd need Support..
      The only times I ever called Support in 10 years with Virgin were to change my plan.
      I've been with LC now for 3 months, and had no issues whatsoever.

      Watch out with LC.

      I had a faulty app download a whole bunch of data in the background over several days (following upgrade to iOS6) - 2.1GB later and ~$900 bill. This is due to their 48hr delay in usage data from optus (so the excess barring feature didn't kick in for a while)

      Worked out a discount through LC and TIO, but still have to pay about $400 - probably not worth it IMO, if you are going to go LC and use a lot of data just get a woolworths SIM - works out to be around $17 and more data buffer (and no risk of going over their cap), otherwise check out Vaya - about the same price but the usage meter updates 15mins so the excess usage feature 'should' work there.

    • You'd have to get a hold of their bill but if they have extremely light usage the Amaysim pay as you go might end up cheaper.

      I've swapped a bunch a people over to Vaya recently and dealt with the phone support, the online chat support, the Facebook guy and the Whirlpool rep. All were very helpful and quick to respond. I can't imagine why you'd want to go with LC with their email only support that is receiving very negative reviews at the moment.

  • I am with LC. No major issues (except getting rid of international roaming). Vaya looks just as good to me on the cheaper plans so will have to go with them (since LC isn't taking any customers for the moment) for my mother's phone.
