I bought both separately. The Zero+ PRO 5-Stage for $295 at Appliances Online using a referral, and the Compact 4-Stage from Amazon for $172 (box was a bit squashed, but otherwise brand new)

I have a stupid dog that runs around and breaks things, bring shit in from outside, and sheds quite a lot of hair. I rate both of these, only thing is the Compact sits on my desk because the dog has a bed under my desk, and the fan ramps up whenever the little shit comes inside and jumps on me. Other than that, both units are working very well.

There are third party filters for the Compact for $40, and $70 for the Pro.

These have been slightly cheaper separately, but this combo pack is still a great deal at $580.50

  • fan ramps up whenever the little shit comes inside and jumps on me.

Getting rid of the little shit will be a cheaper solution.

    • Nah, I love the little bastard.

  • I have this (the bigger winix 5) but also have a Dyson clone fan/purifier

I would prefer fan style than purifier alone as it comes handy in summer

This one literally shoots the air up and provides no cooling. You get dry from the purification without any of the cooling perks

Don't know why you got negged. I looked at fan ones but I have AC for summer, but a fan/purifier combo would be good for those days that are between yes AC and no AC. I decided to go for dedicated purifiers with less moving parts and don't require larger fans and more power to push the air through the multi-layered filters.

  • How often does the filter need replacing for real? Sorry I know it's an arbitrary question with many factors going into it. But what's a realistic timeframe for continuous use in say an average house, kinda unpalatable if it's monthly then these two would need a $110/m subscription basically 🤕

    • How often does the filter need replacing for real?

nfi, but the big one came with 10 'pre-filters' presumably for pet hair and it has been running continuously for about 6 months. I just opened it up and the pre-filter looks a bit dusty so I'll change it later.

I've only had smaller one for about a month so I'm not even gonna bother to check.

I also have a Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Compact in the bedroom that's been running for a year which I haven't checked and don't know how much the filters are.

      Third party filters:
      Pro: https://www.amazon.com.au/Zero-Replacement-Winix-PRO-AUS-125…
      Compact: https://www.amazon.com.au/AUS-0850AAPU-Compatible-Replacemen…

I don't think they'll need to be replaced monthly, more like when I can be bothered, so every few months?

@Entropy Reseller check the links. If they don't fit, return them.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Definitely interested in trying these out, been told to try an air purifier by a few people to help me manage my sinus issues better.

  • OP, which replacement filters do you buy? I've never been confident the third party ones will fit properly.

  • I'd bought the compact purifier but returned it due to a whirring noise during silent mode, which Winix said was normal.
Does anyone have any experience with the bigger one since I'm looking for dead silent purifiers?

    • There's no such thing as a silent fan - blowing air makes a noise.

      • my xiaomi air purifier 1 (bought in 2018) is silent during silent mode, you can feel the air blowing through the top but otherwise can't tell the difference when it is on or off so i leave mine on all the time.
