Someone would say something about the 3050Ti card for a "gaming" laptop but this seems like a good price with this being a Legion laptop.
Same model is selling at $2,099 at JB Hi-fi https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lenovo-legion-5i-15-6-fhd…

  • 33050ti or 3050?

$1300 laptop with a 3050Ti you called it good deal?

    • +3

Believe it or not, there's more to a laptop than just the GPU.

It's not any laptop, it's a Legion one. I'm sure if you go with Gigabyte and MSY you'd get a better GPU…

Lenovo LOQ 3050 6GB was available for $900 (with 165hz display upgrade) after cashback this black Friday: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/811859, this is terrible value imo. You can get a 4050 variant with 6GB VRAM for less than this price when there is cashback offer on Lenovo website.

Doesn't seem too great of a deal.

3050ti is the last year's model.
But overall it's still quite good "lite gaming" laptop.
Legion's quality and finish is quite good.
I wish Legion can have the 4050 model with similar price in boxing day.

Amazing? I even got neg up there questioning this so called good deal haha, ppl here love Lenovo so much you can tell, don't want to hear anything bad on this brand.

      • Literally got a brand new gaming Lenovo two months ago which had a massive hardware failure yesterday. Black screen of death. Light turns on but nobody is home. One day it worked and the next day it didn't. Barely used. I picked Lenovo over Gigabyte partly because people were shitting on Gigabyte in a recent thread and pumping up Lenovo.

Ironically? I was replacing my old Gigabyte laptop which failed after 10 years, lol. I partly didn't want to go the same brand (Gigabyte) because I thought if I went 'better quality' then it would last even longer than 10 years maybe, and the Gigabyte did run a little hot. (The Lenovo ran hot anyway. Gaming laptops always kind of do).

To be fair to Lenovo, hardware does fail— I am not knocking the brand, it happens and whatever. Maybe I got a dud. But I have never had a brand new computer fail after two months. They don't even know what part has failed, only that it's hardware issue. I was so unimpressed with my model, I got a refund. Only good thing is their customer service is pretty good and gave me the return authorisation and refund immediately because it was obviously faulty.

But yes, people here seem to love Lenovo, and it is absolutely pushed a lot. Nothing against them, I just don't think they're any better than anyone else, really. All of them are victims of cheap parts and I am definitely unimpressed with them due to my own experience.

    • It's a Legion, my dude. Bet the value goes up again if I put an Apple sticker on it.

It is barely worth calling a "legion" (a lot of the Legion chasis and cooling value is wasted on this imo), which is likely why Lenovo rebranded this entry level spec gaming laptops to LOQ with the 40 serires.

    • What would you recommend in that price range or similar specs?

  • People are saying it is not even worth $1000 on this thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/820550 where they are selling similar Legion in store at Officeworks.
