Xiaomi 13T Non Leica Version or Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus?

Xiaomi 13T sent to Australia from Aliexpress is the non Leica Global version . I haven't been able to find any hands on reviews of the non Leica version. Will it make much difference? Camera is important to me but budget limit is $700.

I've had Redmi Note 10 Pro Plus and have Redmi N11PP now. We recycle within the family.

I was going to buy Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus global version when it's released Jan 4. But the 13T with better camera and 4 years software upgrades has made me rethink my decision.

Kogan are selling 13T Leica version at higher price than Aliexpress.

But don't know if I trust Kogan's source if Aliexpress has notice - NOTE: If your country is : Japan, Korea, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador, Algeria, Nigeria, Morocco, South Africa, Angola, Ghana, Australia, New Zealand We will send non-Leica version.

Open to suggestions for any other large screen phones with good camera around $700

  • Isn't it just a branding issue in some countries? It's the same camera in there, the IMX707

Probably lose the Leica branded filters as well, but they're just a software thing.

    • Thanks for the links.

Yes, I thought the difference would be just losing Leica branded filters and other software stuff. But then in the Leica version description it has - Summicron lens, jointly developed with Leica - LEICA VARIO-SUMMICRON

How can that be when they both use the Sony IMX-707 camera?

Every review I've seen has reviewed the Leica version, even a reviewer from Nigeria, which doesn't get the Leica version

      • The IMX707 is the sensor, the lens is seperate. But it's likely the same lens in both, just one doesn't have the logo. "Summicron" is simply Leica's branding for any lens less than f/2.0. "Jointly developed" means "We paid them a lot of cash to put Leica branding on this".

It's not like they actually building the lenses. Much like the Huawei P40 was "co-engineered" with Leica or the Leica phone was just a Sharp Aquos R6 with a different logo slapped on it.

All the Leica brand signifies is that it's something they're willing to put their name to, not a small thing for a brand known for their very expensive camera gear, so it won't be crap. But it doesn't necessarily mean it's anything different to the unbranded one.

        • That makes sense. So probably sensor and lenses are the same but non Leica version is missing a couple of Leica filters and the Leica label.

  • I am sure you will find a Hasselblad badge on Temu or Wish!

  • I get all my geniune Hasselblad products from Temu :)

  • I watched a couple of YouTube videos from Latin America reviewing the non Leica version of the 13T. Reviewers thought the camera performed well but wished they could have the Leica version in their countries.

It was thought that the IMX-707 was definitely the same but Leica filters were missing and different lenses had been used.

  • +2

This is my third week with the 13T. Very fast delivery from Aliexpress.

Camera is great even in low light. The brightness of the screen allows me to see it in direct sunlight. Definite step up from my Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus, which I thought was a very good phone too.

    • Which supplier did you use on AliExpress? Link?

      Cheers

  • I have been looking to buy Redmi Note 13 Pro or Poco X6 Pro. Redmi note 13 Pro comes in 2 different variants one in Cn Version and other is Global Version. Price difference is $100-200. I'll check the 13T now
