Note: Moneybackco keep the first $10 of your commissions each year (thanks for the correction ZZYSS)

Note2: user "hotbabe" points out that Buckscoop gives all commissions to people, and as their site also has this deal mentioned, with $7 cash back per sim, people might want to consider their service instead. Thanks hotbabe :) :) :)

Note3: I used Moneybackco, Firefox browser and have e-mail notifications turned on in my Moneybackco profile. I was e-mailed the same day that transactions were logged. :)

-> Wickedwill. You've missed the point.

30 days of free calls to Virgin mobile users
30 days of free SMS to Virgin mobile users
$10 credit for calls and SMS to mobile users on other carriers
AND $2 extra for your pocket!

What you've described as "all that work" was just a step by step guide on how to buy something from a website; maybe also learning how Moneybackco works.

But it's not just for $2.

Moneybackco knowledge isn't just for Virgin Mobile either.

Also, if you'd noticed, that's $2 … per Sim card … if you only want to buy 1 sim card, that's up to you …

sigh it's very discouraging to encounter comments and negatives like yours, when you're clearly ignoring almost the entire deal :( :( :(

    Please retract your negative! :( :( :(

OzPete or other moderators -> If you get here, could you remove WickedWill's -ve for being misleading, along with his comment and my response?

    • -7

      Nope, sorry, the comment stands.

      • Now I remember, you're that guy who goes around voting NEGATIVO on deals. You even posted "everybody else is voting negative, I'll do the same" on one deal …

If there are any moderators, can you remove his comments, my responses and his votes :(

      • You may not think its worth it… but its a bargain.

Isn't that what we judge with our +ive and -ive vote??

    • Foundit - maybe you can offer wickedwill a job - surely there's one in your organisation for customer relations ??. Then again maybe he needs the CEO's position.

      • Thanks Ozpete :) suggestion "noted" ;)

Remember - It's not about getting free $2 .. but more for people wanting cheap (even free, even get paid for that) SIM card etc ..

This is way better deal rather to pay $2 for just sim card only (red vodafone, optus prepaid etc), well, you get the idea

  • can you please link to the Virgin Mobile page which shows this offer?
The link just directs to MoneyBackCo and I believe it's not friendly to link non-related URL….
I cannot find the page of this offer.

    • posting shortly; I've put the link to Moneybackco 'cos if you want the $7 back, you need to be registered with Moneybackco and go to the Virgin website from there.

This will get you pretty close to the link, but remember, no $7 back without Moneybackco :)
      https://www.virginmobile.com.au/shop/pc-134-2-byo.aspx?mode=…

I'll put the steps later :)

  • Other great uses of this card:

    • when you want cheap cards for people who make almost no calls (parents, grand parents, little children, relatives visiting)

    • when you are paying for someone else's phone cards and want to limit their spending (eg kids)

    • stocking fillers :) :) :)

    • Kris Kringles :)

Also, since you don't have to go down to the shops and queue (it's posted by express mail) it's really easy to get these :) :) :)

    • +1

      Kris Kringles

Gee. Putting $10 sim card in Kris Kringles and you can still make $2. I can see lots of card swapping this Christmas at work…

      • lol :) :) :)

Thanks Scotty, that cheered me up … I was letting WickedWill get to me :S

        Thanks again :) :) :)

  • Hi guys, I'm new to MoneyBackCo and just want to find out how the tracking works. So i just clicked on the link from MBC and it directs me to Virgin's home page. From there I clicked onto their shop, and then navigated through to this link: https://www.virginmobile.com.au/shop/pc-134-2-byo.aspx
I select prepaid, and add it to the cart and checkout?
From the process described above, is MBC still able to track the order? I'm a bit confused as to the limitations of MBC..

  • Hmm I can see WickedWill is going through negativing all my comments …

  • -> Zenzen and Silo

First you need to be registered with Moneybackco.com, if you are comfortable with their terms and conditions etc. (I see silo's already joined)

I've used Moneybackco to get discounts on Virgin prepaid sim cards before. Specifically the $7. Here's what I did.

    1. Log onto Moneybackco.com
    2. Searched for Virgin Mobile and checked the offer still stood
    3. Used the link to go to Virgin Mobile, accepting cookies along the way

    4. On Virgin, I made my purchases, and recorded details of the transactions (plus how much I expected back)

    5. About a week later, I checked there were details of the transaction. At that point you can raise any queries if need be. I saw my transaction was logged as $1.00 owing, but at the time, that was just an administrative thing.

    6. A month or so later I received my payment.

Remember, it's $7 a pre-paid SIM card. So I'd be checking for $7 back for every sim card that you do order.

On the Virgin website, you can find the deal as follows:
    1. In the menu on the webpage, point to Plans and a drop down menu appears
    2. Point to Pre-Paid Plans on the drop down menu, and the screen refreshes
    3. Click on the BYO prepaid sims
    4. Click on "Choose Me" for Pre-Paid
    5. Click on "Choose Me" for PRE-PAID with $10 Free to V Credit for $5
    6. If you want, change the quantity from 1 to 2
    7. Click on Add to Cart and away you go :)

    • I did find they cross checked my shipping and billing addresses against a database of streets and suburbs. After updating my details, I did have to:
1- click on "Accept address as I have entered it" for the billing address
2- click on "Accept address as I have entered it" for the shipping address
3- click on "Update details" a second time

You may or may not encounter that, but I've posted it to help just in case you do :)

      • I just remembered something from when I went through the terms and conditions.

*Free Calls & Text: To Virgin Mobile numbers only, excludes video calls. Fair Use Policy applies. Fees/Cancellation may apply for excessive use (over 2500 minutes and/or 3000 text per month)
        Need min. 1¢ balance.

So that means, if you want the full 30 days to use up your free calls and text, don't use up all the credit.

I've found the deals great (this and that free $5 Virgin card). I was already with Virgin Mobile (as are most of my family and some of my friends). I gave the cards to some friends and they ended up liking being with Virgin better (they could find better plans than with their existing carriers). So now my call costs have dropped even further :)

I guess this could be a pretty cheap and good way for them to be advertising :)

One friend who swapped across has been with them for 6 months now and even bought her latest phone from them too :)

FYI the Moneyback $10 charge is annual, not once-off as you stated in your post. However, if you buy nothing, then you get charged nothing. So the first $10 that you earn every year goes to MBC.

    • what if you only earnt, for example; $5. Would you have to make up the other $5?

      • Hi Silo,

I think zzyss or one of the other guys can confirm this.

They keep the first $10 or part thereof. You don't have to make up the difference :)

    • Thanks for that Zzyss …

Hmm … I think I've placed orders through them this year, so I might be right.

      I placed 5 transactions getting 10 sim cards. $70 back - $10 = $60. So I'm getting $6 - $7 back … :)

      Thanks again zzyss :)

  • My only beef is with MoneyBackCo.. If i am a very rare user with them, and i purchase one of these cards, i won't actually see any money (as they subtract a $10 membership fee once you start earning money)..

So for someone who only made a MoneyBackCo account for this deal, will be suprised (unless they buy a number of these SIMs)..

Perhaps i do not understand the MoneyBackCo rules well, but if it is as ive stated, its not so good..

  • Why don't we use Buckscoop instead of MoneyBackCo. Buckscoop has the same cashback and NO annual fee like MoneyBackCo

    • Probably 'cos I'm more familiar with MoneyBackCo :) Thanks for pointing that out to me :) Deal updated

    • Buckscoop does have lower cashback rate for many merchants — but if you don't use cashback often then I agree that Buckscoop might work better for you.

  • Anyones else getting this at checkout?

    Something doesn't look right … …
It appears that we are currently experiencing some system difficulties and were unable to process your request.

Who can process the order over the phone.

    • Was a problem with Opera browser, Checkout works fine in IE and Firefox.

just want to correct you, buckscoop doesn't charge $10 but with some merchant they give a little bit less commission than MoneybackCo. But with this VirginMobile they give the same commission so I don't see any point using MoneybackCo :-)

  • Call or text over half a million people in Australia for FREE! With 'FREE to V' credit, calls and text to any other Virgin Mobile customers in Australia cost you absolutely nothing*. Plus you still get amazing rates for other calls and text + FREE Voicemail in Oz.

Can this pre-paid call free to post-paid virgin or only pre-paid to pre-paid?
Also for this pre-paid…do you have to charge each month if you want to keep the number/service?

    • "any other Virgin Mobile customers in Australia"

  • great for visiting relatives from overseas! use and discard :)

  • I got the "something doesn't look right" at checkout, when I went through Buckscoop in IE…anyone else??

  • one quick question, if i place an order for 2, would buckscoop only track as 1 order?

    • I can't help you with Buckscoop :)

Moneybackco is tracking mine as single orders (1 order per 2 sims) but I'll be looking for $14 from each. :) If not, I'll just ask them to fix it :)

  • Got mine the other day. Some thoughts:
1 - Mine arrived the other day. It was delivered by courier so they were looking for me, with my ID,
to sign for it, early in the morning :)

2 - Terms and conditions on the package do not match what was on the website, and agreed to before purchase.
On the website it says credit will last 30 days.
On the packets it says to use the credit within 10 days.

I've found in the past, when Virgin made mistakes, they were happy enough to sort things out
when I rang them and they usually (deliberately) give me a bit of extra credit and/or expiry date.

Save a copy of the Virgin page, and if your credit is expired in 10 days without it all being used up,
    give them a call.

(Note: calls to them are charged. Usually it's better to call their number from a land line
    when sorting these things out)

3 - Mine arrived in courier boxes. 1 box for each 2 sim cards. If you slit the tape on both ends,
the box folds flat and can be use later for moving, packing or when wrapping presents … :)

    • On the packets it says to use the credit within 10 days.

I noticed that too. So how did you go with VB as I haven't call them yet.

  • Just got a bunch of messages from Moneybackco saying my transactions have been changed to $7.

But my transactions were for 2 prepaid sims each, so I'll go notify them now that the amounts should be $14, and update this thread later …

    • Please update & let me know as I order a few & doing the same as you.
Also I have some miss tracking too :(

      • For your missing ones, go to Moneybackco, go to your transactions and fill out an enquiry for each missing transaction :) Wishing you well with it :)

I got a response from Moneybackco inside an hour, on a Saturday night! They said they will certainly raise it with the vendor and asked me to fill out a separate enquiry for each transaction (I had filled out one enquiry for 5 transactions). :)

  • An update:
    - if you give it to people, they should ring up to activate it, rather than trying to activate it on the web
    - I used one and the credit was expired after just 10 days.

Virgin did fix me up okay. Doing the following, in the following order, worked for me:
    - Rang Virgin (and selected options to speak to a customer service operator)
    - Told them I bought the $10 Free to V prepaid SIM for $5 and directed them to the product page
    - I pointed them to the terms and conditions (last paragraph), sentence 3, where it says the credit lasts 30 days
    - I then told them, that the credit had been terminated after just 10 days
    - They added another $10 credit for me

Hopefully they'll fix things up for everyone else, but just letting you know in case they haven't sorted it out by the time you use your cards. :)

Just checked my account, and it says $10 credit, with $5 expiring in 30 days. So, that's what I meant earlier about, if they need to fix something, they usually do a bit extra to make people happier :)

I've gotten a free top up back to $10, an extension giving me a defined 40 days instead of 30 days, then after that $5 expires, if I still have credit, I'll find out if I get even more out of the card :)
