Which Ryobi Tools Are Worth Getting?

I currently own the following 18V Ryobi tools:

Lawn Mower
Line Trimmer
Hedge Trimmer
Garden Blower
Power Scrubber
Plan to get a pruner next

They have made my life a lot easier when it comes to maintaining the house and garden.

I see a lot of other tools available but wasn't sure if they're a waste of money or are worth getting - such as the window vacuum, gutter cleaner, scarifier etc. Has anyone used any and would recommend them?

  • Are you using the 18v or 36v tools? Since those are all garden tools you've mentioned

    • 18V, I'll update the post

I have all those products too but I use them for my personal grooming needs

  • The soldering station Ozito does not have
try the grinder if they fit your hands
Saber saw, even handy for pruning fruit trees
some love their 3/8 drive side nut driver
remember it is all bottom edge TTI stuff but hey their color shines in a dark shed!

    R18ALF folding light is great.

    • R18ALF folding light is great.

I have the older model but they're not too different. Probably my most used Ryobi product. Old eyes appreciate a lot of light.

Other than this, buy things as you need them OP. No point buying a tool other people think is great if you don't, and will never, have use for it.

Recip saw gets a heap of use in my garden for pruning and cutting up branches for the green bin. I like the addition of a longer blade than the one included. Anything smaller I deal with with some fiskars solid bypass loppers, or secateurs. 18v pruner seems way overpriced in comparison, but I can see the use case if you aren't physically strong or have arthritis, small hands, nice nails, RSI, hatred of manual labour etc.

Edger is great if you have edges bordering paths, driveways etc. Scarifier also great, but very niche and not a necessity.

  • ryobi 18v hand vaccum is pretty great imo

Ryobi has a 5 or 6 year warranty for domestic use, basically no questions asked.
Be careful when paying as if you use the Bunnings Powerpass the purchase will be treated as the item will be used for trade purposes and the warranty is only one year.

Buy as you need, otherwise you end up with dust collectors in your shed.

  • I only have the 36V Ryobi stuff - Mower, Line Trimmer, Edger, Chainsaw, Hedge Trimmer.
I have been quite happy with the gear overall and the warranty is great (had a line trimmer fail).
The gear is all quiet and powerful enough to do the job; the chainsaw inparticular is a beast.

  • Do you work on your own car? I recently got the medium impact wrench gun thing and its amazing!

  • Buy as you need is good advice. No point getting something you aren’t going to use.

Seems you’re going for home/garden equipment not DIY tools, but I haven’t used what you are suggesting. I suspect they are OK, but a possibly little bit of a gimmick.

I’ve got a shed full of Ryobi tools, over 20 skins. Most purchased for a specific task but then used for more tasks. Bunch of stuff also bought and sold in bundles second hand that I wouldn’t buy new but is now handy. Line trimmer, hedger, pole hedger and pole saw all work well used regularly. Lights and can have come in handy camping. Then there’s drills, impacts, sander, trim router, grinders, multi tool …

  • My fav is the nail gun by far.

  • I have

    • inflator
    • drill and driver
    • pole saw with extension
    • line trimmer
    • mower
    • blower
    • hot glue gun
    • grass shears and hedge trimmer
    • recipical saw

    Neighbour has
    - edger
    - circular saw
    - chainsaw
    - sander.
    - jig saw

    I want to get the
    - weed sprayer
    - stick vacuum
    -

  • I have quite a few 18v tools;

    • circular saw - absolutely piss weak. Avoid it like the plague!
    • drill - decent
    • impact driver - definitely recommend, a life saver
    • nail gun - also good, but depends on if you ever need it
    • Jigsaw - good
    • cordless mitre saw - I picked it up for $50 off Marketplace and it's decent, but only good if you just want to make a couple cuts and can't be bothered moving the big mitre saw into position
    • misting fan - actually haven't tried it yet

I do see benefit in getting angle grinder + recip saw + multitool because cordless options are very handy

    • mower - really weak, it struggles with even the smallest blades of grass. It does the job if you're willing to mow every week. i just upgraded to a 40V system
    • pole saw with extension - good
    • wiper snipper - good

Really anything that needs grunt is not going to cut it (pardon the pun) with an 18V battery. I don't get the same complaints about Milwaukee or Dewalt though…?

  • Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Roof And Gutter Leaf Blower

Anyone used one of these to clean the gutters? Are they powerful enough?

I'm trying to avoid getting on the roof & using a regular blower which does a great job.

    • I've looked at these and they appear to just be the workshop blower on a stick. While the workshop blower is fine, I see 2 issues with the gutter blower as it's presented. One is leaves hold moisture and essentially turn to compost in the gutter so it's not like blowing dry leaves around so I question it's effectiveness. Two, you can't see what's in the gutter and if you've cleared it out so you have no idea if the job is done.

      • Tape your phone to the gutter cleaner. Video call a friends phone and have them tell you what you’ve missed. They might need to take the call while standing no beside you because you won’t be able to hear what they’re saying if the phone is up at roof height with a blower going off.

  • Have a few Ryobi 18V tools in my collection. Most recent addition was the $269 Jet Blower. Its seriously potent, according to the specs, blows faster than Cyclone Jasper
