  • Saw this one for $3598! LOL

    LG 17" gram WUXGA Ultra-Lightweight Laptop Evo i7-1360P 16GB RAM 1TB For $3598

    I like your deal better!

    • +1

This one has a different use case tho. LG gram usually weight only 1kg iirc. They're better if you dont game and use for office and light tasks.

      • +1

I get you, however 3 times the price?

        • +3

There's prolly a market for that ig.

          • @myvanbo: Yep, if you have to carry a laptop around all the time, it may be worth it.

        • +4

1.35kg for a 17 inch laptop, commands the premium.

    • Different use cases, but I agree that even at normal street prices (ie. not RRP), the Gram lineup are overpriced. I have a 16” and while it is a good laptop, it’s not worth $2000+. That’s Apple prices, and you get a much better everything for that price, albeit with a smaller screen.

The only reason they’re able to charge that much is because no one else is selling a competing product.

Far better than the similarly named Nitro V. You are getting that full performance gpu, and 12650H is, whilst cut down in cores compared to the 12700H, kept the larger L3 cache which will be beneficial in games.

Jarrod gave it a solid C in his tierlist for last year, nothing amazing but acceptable for a budget laptop, far better than low end MSI and Gigabyte, that is for sure.

    • This model is rated very high in his lastest tier list due to overall decent build on almost all aspect. Tho this year the Nitro V actually got a good screen while they butchered the screen on this model which is very sad. Looking forward for next year where they can improve the screen and add Advanced Optimus.

      • So V is better than 5 series?

        • No.

      • Both the 22 and 23 chassis are actually identical, he only gave it a B instead C because of relative pricing.

At least given this price range, we dont get good panels for the Nitro V down here. Above all, screen can be upgraded with an external monitor, can’t upgrade cooling solution or gpu.

        • so, MY22/23 Nitros no more thermal throttling ?

          • +2

@dcep: Given the specs in here. No. The 4060 can only ramp up to a 100w this year due to nvidia voltage lock (applies to all manufacturers). Thermal stress is definitely not an issue here.

        • I read your entire post in his voice, especially the above all

Op's SNSMD6…. is a targeted code, but an eBay general public code SAVETH the day

    • Thanks, i just edited. Was thinking why the code is weirdly long for me.

  • They also have the "newer" Nitro 16 for $1299.

Ryzen 7, a much better 16 inch 1920 by 1200 display but only a 6gb 4050. Full fat 140w. and much better battery life.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/155664898864

Also available at officeworks with a Ryzen 5 for $1197.

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/acer-nitro…

    • The screen is pretty decent on that model. Only thing holding it back is that they doesnt put 4060-4070 on it tbh.

      • Instant buy if it had a 4060.

        • +2

My thought as well. Funny i find it has many configs, one even has 32gb ram and i9 or something. But the gpu is still 4050 lol.

          • @myvanbo: Added to watchlist. Let's see what happens on Boxing Day.

            • +1

@The Value: When the sales come there will likely be increased cashback and Westpac cashback. However, items on your watchlist within 24 hours may be ineligible for cashback. Perhaps a bookmark is a safer bet.

          • @myvanbo: Then the other shitty brand Gigabyte & MSI have lots of their cheap models included 4060 instead, I also wish this Nitro 16 comes with 4060, hope the Helios Neo will come down more during xmas sale.

            • +1

@kaikor: Well if we talk about those 4060 laptops then this deal i post should smash all of them. Gigabyte ones has limited W 4060 (make it weaker than full power 4050). MSI compete with this deal toe to toe but you defo wont find any of them with i7 4060 at 1288$ or less. Only when we reach roughly 1.5k - 2k budget that we can reach for decent specs with little to no compromise. (Predator, Lenovo LoQ Legion, Dell G, Gigabyte Aorus,…)

    • That Ryzen 7 model comes down to $1234 with 5% off ebay code

      • +1

At that price, I'd get the Nitro 16/4050 over the i7/4060. Based mainly on the types of games I play.

        Edit. $1199 with SAVETH!

    • +1

It’s the identical chassis just with a 16:10 display, 4050 cant ramp up to 140w anyways just like the 4060 here so that’s a moot point. Overall the 4060+ 12650H combo will still beat the 4050+ 7840HS combo handily in most titles with a better 8gb vram for future proofing.

      • What kind of performance can I get out of the intergrated 780m on the Ryzen 7? What if I treat it like a Handheld PC (Steam Deck/ROG Ally)? Could I get impressive battery life while gaming without main's power?

        • +1

Actually very decent performance ngl. You can check youtube videos for references. That 780m is equivalent to an GTX1650. So crazy how far igpu have manage to achieve now.

        • That is a pretty nice potential usecase - acer site said this is a 4 cell battery, so no cut downs there unlike previous nitro skus.

        • +1

I own the gpd win max 2 and it's a pretty great experience. I played hifi rush recently at 1080p and had no problem being on beat.

Some games can be tough though, played vallheim and it only felt comfortable at 720 scaled at 50%

And games like bg3 looks awful with fsr. So i play that at native 720p

      • So always should target for 4060 laptop regardless of what CPU they come with?

        • 4060 should last you longer. Tho with good deals, 4050 is ok if you know you won't need the extra performance in the future. Just watch youtube for benchmark references on how strong they are and make decision for yourself.

        • If gaming is what you want, yeah since far more than most games are gpu sided than they are cpu wise. Its not like 4060 is that strong of a gpu and it wouldn’t really get bottlenecked here. We also have no 4 core scams unlike in 2021 with the Intel H35 ‘i7’s.

          • @Brrrrt: Thx, such a pity the non Neo Helios 16 actually build & looks way better than their other models, why got details on their aussie website and not selling them here, should just remove this page for F sake!
            https://www.acer.com/au-en/predator/laptops/helios/helios-16

            • @kaikor: Yep thats very underwhelming to see, the non neo's build quality and overall make is pretty premium, even a bit about the legion this year I reckon.

But sadly acer have forsaken us.

              • @Brrrrt: Only way is to buy online from someone like newegg etc but sounds very risky to me for $2k+ laptop …

    HODL till boxing day?

I decided to buy this instead of Swift go 14" R7 7840U.

  • +2

Brought this on the black friday deals. Good laptop so far, can charge via USB C as well which is a bonus.

    • Is it possible to charge when it's running simple work or game(not a full load games)? I have a 100W charger.

      • +1

Not sure about gaming, ive charged it via USB C while browsing the web and downloading movies, when i game i swap to the included charger.

        • Thank you very much @Kirbieb.
I will buy this soon, I just hope discount ebay GC or further discount coupon on Ebay.

    • How was the screen? :)

      • For my uses fine, an improvement from my old laptop thats for sure but the information i found while looking it up said the colours arent great.

    • How much was the Black Friday deal?

This seems to be a good price thou not sure should wait till boxing day or not.

      • it came to $1378, so if i waited i would have got a better deal, but it's pretty good so far so not overly concerned.

Anyone know if this is capable enough for PC VR?

  • bought the last Nitro 16" one thanks OP excited to use.

  • I bought a nitro 5 laptop few years ago.
I barely used the screen and used an external monitor.
The screen does not work. Its basically brand new.
I would never buy a nitro again

    • Why? All becoz of the sh|t screen? But other than that, does your Nitro still going strong?

  • Just bought one of these good reviews do some light 3D architecture work
Harvey Norman could not match Bing Lee .
    Thanks OP.

  • This or Asus TUF A15?

    • What's the price and spec of the TUF A15? The TUF should be better (decent gamut screen, tho the delay is bad). I only saw TUF going around the 2k price and at that price, it's better to get a Lenovo LOQ or Slim instead.

Check out this one ryzen 9 rtx4060 for only $1199
        https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/laptops-&-notebooks/gami…

        • My son used to have an ASUS, they seems to always has sleep/wake issue every now and then, think this year Acer prob has better quality for around the same price.

Plus I bet after xmas sale, we will see more sub $1k 4060 laptop deals, better HODL for another week or two.

        • Dang crazy deal ngl. You should post that one here. I think it's even better than this one.

        • wow! this is a crazy deal!

        • This must be a mistake. Thats a brilliant deal. If you dont have one this is the 4060 deal…

        • +1

Thanks - just cancelled my Lenovo Slim 5 order ($2150) and ordered this for $1200. Not as good as the Lenovo spec wise but unbeatable from a value perspective.

        • Please tell me there's a code or something to enter at checkout. Listing now says $1999…

  • Just pulled the trigger.
Initially ordered one from Harvey Norman, but it seems like this one is cheaper even considering HN's gift card, so cancelled that order and awaiting refund … :)

    • How has the laptop been?
Still deciding whether to get it or a desktop PC

      • awaiting delivery
