New Fridge Required

Need a fridge 90-95cm wide double door, any suggestions after my 10yo Fisher and Paykel has failed?

I'd suggest buying something 90-95cm wide, if you go wider it may not fit in your fridgey-hole, and then you'll have a fridge sitting in the middle of your kitchen.

    I'd suggest a liebherr.

      Perhaps the Liebherr 9800?

Might be a bit wider than 90-95cm tho

      • If we're gonna be unhelpful, let's at least go all the way

If a fridge manufacturer doesn't also make heavy machinery, I don't want to know about it.

The question is kind of impossible to awnser without knowing your budget and needs. And if you know those, you can probably narrow it down to 2-3 on your own.

I have a Samsung. Everyone complains about Samsung fridges, but mine have been fine. Maybe that's the awnser you're looking for.

Exactly. Go to any of the sites like winnings or appliances online. Throw in your dimensions and budget as filters and come back with the short list.

  • Harvey Norman sell some.

I would go the Haier or Westinghouse. Lower energy costs, up front lower price (incl Haier cashback). The decision you need to make between those is if you like the Haier design enough to justify other trade-offs.

Choice ranks the Westinghouse fridges higher than the Haier ones, and this particular Westinghouse highly. It has a lot more reviews to get background from, yet still has a fairly good score.

Oh, and it's on sale at Bing Lee for $1,699 (though stock level not clear), which appliances online may price match

    • We've had the plumbed version of the Haier fridge (HRF680YPS) in our home for about 8 months. No issues so far.

We have it in an open kitchen and noise is not an issue (even with the plumbed ice maker).

Compared to our old fridge, the lighting at the back makes it easier to see what's inside. The Haier doesn't have the big handles on the outside. Didn't like that at first, but got used to it after a month.

When we shopped around in person, we pretended to use the fridges to check if it worked for us. For example, confirming the fridge was suitable for our varied heights, was there space for our common items like milk, where would we store them, etc. We found that we prefer the freezer doors over the single pull out freezer drawer. Easier to see what's inside.

I'd recommend creating a short list (like you have) and viewing them in person.

  • Thanks great tips. I have been offered the F&P for $1750 or without handles for $1620 would that influence your decision?

    • Hey Poxy001, can you let me know where you saw the F&P for that price? May look at picking up one myself.

      • Nah its a offer i have due to a fault. You seem to be the only person interested in the F&P?

        • To be honest, our fridge is pretty much dead too, so just after a new one. Annoying as there were quite a few deals during Black Friday. The F&P seemed like good value at the price you mentioned it.

        • Just FYI, I ended up buying a seconds model - this one.

It was $700 delivered, which I thought was very fair.

  • I liked Haier fridge !

I hv been told by store rep they are produced by the same company like fisher & Paykel.
