  • Paizo is presently working on a 2.1 or 2.5 version iteration. They intend to be fully cross compatible and that goal remains; however, with the debacle of Wizards of the Coast attempting to scupper the OGL for future versions they are making more extensive changes to bolster themselves against potential issues. It makes sense when anticipating dealing with scum like WotC Hasbro. They're renaming some core terminology and spells and merging some facets of classes to avoid overlap — levels are now ranks, magic missile is force missile and a number of wizardry spell classifications are being merged. They will offer extensive errata to address this, but if one were looking to learn the soon to be current version of their system and didn't have imminent plans to run or play a game, between these slated changes and the mediocre editing/publishing of the 2.0 core rules one might be inclined to wait for the new version first as it is a complex ruleset and reducing synaptic crosstalk may be beneficial.

They just dropped another Pathfinder Book Bundle. It is an encore though so it'll only be available for 2 days. It was previously posted here.

So you wanna try out Pathfinder

    • Yeah, that's probably the better deal if you're just starting out. You can get the core books for less than this bundle.
