It's an industry term to mean there is a safety issue that is to be rectified by the manufacturer. 'Recall' is antiquated but the key term is 'safety issue'

You didn't realise "autopilot" has always been a kind of smart cruise control? Much like… Tesla Autopilot?
Unlike the king of the Xpletive, autopilot in a Boeing or Airbus is capable of flying itself around the world when turned on. It is also capable of landing the aircraft.
So yeah, I do think that planes can do everything but take-off, and land in severe conditions, on autopilot. You didn't know this?

Car recalls happen literally all the fcuking time, why is it such a big deal when it's Tesla? FWIW, I don't drive a Tesla, don't have any investment in the brand, but I just find the abject polarisation completely stupid on both the fanboys and the haters - it's just a bloody car, like the other billions of cars on the road around the world.

The Tesla "recall" was an over-the-air software update that happened overnight. Their owners didn't even notice.

Tesla will never solve the FSD though just vision using the current hardware though. They have been beta since 2016 ish. How long does beta software testers test it for?
