  • Can vouch for QC, have had my .au domains at them for a few years now, no problems at all

    • +1

Awesome to hear you've had a good experience! We'll do our best to keep it up.

  • Is there a price list for other tlds?

    • +2

Hi mskeggs, the closest we have at the moment is the table which you can click different tabs for at the bottom of this registration page. I've let our team know that we should have a page that lists all domains, so we'll be sure to make that one in the future.

      • Thanks

  • Any discounts for transferring non-au domains? In particular looking to transfer a org away from Google.

For the unfamiliar, if I want to register a personal domain, do I still need to supply the ABN and entity details?

    • +2

Hi jrchurvnjef, that's a very good question!

Direct .au (such as jrchurvnjef.au) is intended for anyone with an Australian presence. For this one you can also use identification like a drivers licence or passport.

.id.au is for Australian individuals or residents, so this one needs to relate to you and your identity in some way. It most commonly makes use of a drivers licence or passport for registration but it technically can be your public facing identity (like a nickname) as well (so long as you can prove it).

.com.au and .net.au are intended for Australian businesses, so there needs to be some proof you represent an Australian commercial identity for those (like an ABN).

.org.au is for Australian Charities and not-for-profits

.asn.au is for Australian not for profits and unincorporated associations.

Hopefully that helps clear things up a bit. Feel free to contact our support if you'd like some assistance.

  • You can get .au for $8.61 at micron21 so the claim on the qc website sounds like false advertisement: The cheapest .au domains available

    • +1

Hi JetBombat, when we wrote that line the direct .au didn't exist but I definitely see how it reads as confusing. As far as we're aware we are the cheapest available for every other .au domain. I'll see to removing the full stop from the .au in that line there to make it less confusing.

  • What are ongoing costs after the first year? How much is a change of registrant and is this a paper based or online process?

    • Hi Hampton Wick, all of the domains mentioned in this post are the same cost every year ($9.20). The transfer fees between registrars are also free. The order process is an online process but if you would like some assistance with your order feel free to contact out support team!

      • Thanks - what is the cost for a change of registrant?

        • For Quantum Core this one is the "transfer fee". For AU domains it is free to move to or from Quantum Core.

          • @Quantum Core: Looking for price on a change of registrant, not registrar. There is a fee asscociated with this…. see auDA Change of Registrant.

Also just for clarity as you may have misunderstood my previous question, can you confirm whether your change of registrant is an offline paper based process, or online.

            Thanks

            • +1

@Hampton Wick: So sorry, the Quantum Core marketing guy (me) needs to work on reading comprehension…

Change of Registrant (CoR) itself is free but the change of registrant requires at least 1 year of registration to be purchased, so that cost would be $9.20. Currently this is done through a form that our support team can send to you but we will aim to have a self service function in the future.

  • Just a heads up if you want this to continue to stay on the wiki, the price needs to be a permanent every day price and it would be preferable that you would remove the sale flag in WHMCS to help with reflecting that.

I've undone all the other reverts from others to restore this pricing as I have noted that the $9.20 price has existed for more than 6+ months and the fact that you have now made this post. But if this is not going to be a permanent reduction the wiki will be reverted.

    • Hi Kyle, yep this one is intended to be permanent. Apologies if the sale tag caused any confusion - it must have popped up when we reduced the price. I believe it is set to disappear after a period of time but I'll pass this on to the team and make sure. Appreciate your help with the wiki page as well!

  • Wife looking to set up her business and looking to get a domain probably.com will be hard to get out selling for silly money so most likely she get .com.au.
How does this compare to other places out there, is there such a free website option out there you can use already made but makes her own as we both not tech savvy.

And anything else we should know or hints and tips she been talking about this for years and needs a boot up the ass to get going

    • How does this compare to other places out there, is there such a free website option out there you can use already made but makes her own as we both not tech savvy.

No you're not going to find a free option that will help you build a website for someone with no experience, if you want to do free, you've normally gotta put time and effort in.

If you don't want to do much, you're probably best looking for a web developer to do the work for you. Otherwise your next best option is a site builder solution. If you choose one of these it's recommended you get your domain name from a domain name registrar don't have any personal experience with Quantum Core.

I'll be honest, most of these questions would be better answered in a forum post in the Internet section.

  • Hi all.. trying to catch up on the whole thread here haha

Got a renewal notice from crazy domains for our .com.au domain name.. seems expensive at $96 for 5 years and more expensive rates for less time duration..

Should I stay with them or change to someone else? Who is good and cheaper please? Thanks

    • Hi b4rg,
I get the impression you were hoping for community feedback on this one but hopefully I can still help.
With QC you can purchase 5 years if that is your preference. That would be $46 in that instance.

It's free to transfer over, which you can do here:
      https://secure.quantumcore.com.au/cart.php?a=add&domain=tran…

In order to transfer though you will need to get the domain Auth Code / Epp Code (which is like your domain password).
You can usually get the authorisation code from your existing provider in your client area.

If you need any help on this one, feel free to send us an email.

  • @Quantum Core

Do you have a support chat phone number please to help??

Potentially want to change over but don’t see any prompt assistance available…. With the process involved

    • Apologies for the delay in response - I wasn't getting the notifications.

QuantumCore only has email available at [email protected]

Our parent company GoHosting Australia allows for calls and additional support but the cost is slightly higher there to facilitate the support.

      I hope that helps!

  • Before I transfer my domain, anyone know if Quantum Core supports configuring DNSSEC?
