The original DOOM game from id Software was released on December 10, 1993 for DOS-based PCs. And to celebrate DOOM's 30th Anniversary, here are some notable news/articles:

For those who have not yet played John Romero's SIGIL Megawad ("unofficial 5th episode", released for DOOM's 25th anniversary), it is still available for free download:

The easiest way to play both of these Megawads on contemporary platforms is by using a freely downloadable source port (see Wikipedia and DoomWiki). The most popular ports include: Doomsday, Eternity Engine, GZDoom, PrBoom+, ZDoom

Eviternity II Megawad released on December 10th 2023, available for free download
Full 36-map megawad sequel to Cacowards 2019 winner Eviternity. Eviternity II makes use of the newer “MBF21” format (Complevel 21) and is to be played with the DOOM2 IWAD.
The following ports officially support Eviternity II:

1v1 modem play at first , then 1994 - our first lan (IPX network 10 base 2 coax) squeezing the most we could out of our 4 mb of RAM and our Intel 286'S. The only bummer was we were limited to 4 player at a time (the game?) and of course we often had more present.
We rotated our lans to different houses in our group and a couple of the guys built levels based on the layouts of the house and property…..
