Lowest price for the 1TB according to the camels Close to the lowest price for the 1TB option according to the camels. The default price shown on the page is sold from Amazon AU which is a dollar or so more expensive - the prices in the title are from Amazon in different regions (Germany/UK/US) and have to select the "other sellers" link to get to them.

Edit: as noted in the comments, the "Capacity" options don't match up with the item headings and descriptions.

Note: Amazon has incorrectly labelled the capacity in the selection.

    • 1TB (CT500T500SSD8) = 500GB
    • 2TB (CT1000T500SSD8) = 1TB
    • 4TB (CT2000T500SSD8) = 2TB
    • Sorry, you're right. I'll edit the post to point this out - might be a risky deal.

The 4tb model isn't even available yet, due to be released next year.

    • +1

True, A review with speed test screenshot shows 2TB while the capacity of the listing is shown as 4TB. Likely a typo and probably gonna receive a smaller model in reality.

I mean, being Amazon, it's likely you can argue with CS that you're supposed to get a 1TB model as selected and eventually got it replaced, but just doesn't feel is the right thing to do.

I was surprised on this listing at first as I just bought a Predator GM7 2TB from China (while travelling there) for ~AU$135, so this $120 for 2TB just too good to be true.

      • where do u buy electronics in china? order online and get it delivered?

        • Taobao (well, Tmall really). If price is right on JD, JD it is.

          • @xmagic: ah ok

only taobao has random sellers that ship overseas right jd and tmall are domestic if i remember correctly right. do jd and tmall ship overseas?

and tmall/jd are b2c whereas tb is C2C

so the b2c ones have lower risk of fakes/scams right

            • @furythree: That's one aspect, really. JD also get better aftersales policies, too.

Popular items on Tmall/JD B2C usually are stocked locally for same-day or next-day delivery so you can buy stuff and know you'll get it quick even if you're living in a hotel.

Forwarder could make the purchase much more expensive, and many things you'll have to carry with you instead of importing.

              • @xmagic: thanks very useful

was planning for both future trips + buying from aus

what kind of electronics have u noticed are better deals from china vs our ozbargain sales?

                • @furythree: I usually buy stuff that are only significantly cheaper, or stuff that are hard to buy here. Like Xianyu (Yellow Fish app, gumtree on steroids) got sketchy stuff that are dirt cheap if you know your business.

Also there are plenty of CDM (Chinese domestic market) brands that are either cheaper, or better performed, or both. Some can be found on Aliexpress, most can’t. I just write a shortlist, then browse and add them to cart, and checkout a week before I travel so I get them as soon as I arrive to have time for inspection and return/refund.

The more obscure an item it is, the better deal (or the matter of fact if you can find them at all at a reasonable price) in China. Same theory for Japanese stuff.

                  • @xmagic: bro u need to start a forum thread and share examples lol

                    im interested

Dont be upset if you get the wrong product arrive

  • Updated the post with the more likely correct capacity/prices. Not as good, but the 1TB still looks like a good price.

including the TBW might be useful for some. pretty average TBW compared to most others around the same price.

    • 500GB - 300TBW

Your drive will likely die of firmware glitch before the NANDs are worn out.

      • Depends on the use case really. If you're sticking these in a NAS as a cache drive then it'll wear down much faster.

        • True. But I rather get a proper enterprise drive than the consumer-level stuff. IOPs and response time matters in such use cases.

  • Ps5 compatible?

    • +1

      Yes.

PS5s are more than happy to take any drive that is PCIe 4.0 even if they won't reach the 5000MB/s read requirement. And in 99% games there won't be a problem running on a slow drive. So just check the specs for the magic word.

    Standard pricing, not a deal

    2TB has been $175 single and $330 for 2

If u order the 4tb, you get the 2tb and then they'll force u to send it to the USA for a refund.
I did find an actual deal though $140 for a 4tb sata… good for a quiet NAS.
